Cheatham County defeated Page tonight 58-36 to improve to 9-4 overall (1-0 in the district) on the season. The Cubs were led by junior center Billy Thomas who posted a double/double in the victory.

The Cubs haven't been this excited about hoops since Johnny Jackson's 2003-2004 team won 20+ games and finished as the district's runner-up. The last time the Cubs started a season at 9-4 (or better) was when Ryan Stack was walking the hallways of Cheatham County Central High School in the early 1990's.

Next week the Cubs travel to Watertown to take part in their tourney from December 27-December 29. The Cubs will open that tourney against DeKalb County (10-2).

Next week will be the Cubs final non-district portion of the schedule before they close the season with 11 district games (with 1 non-district game against Houston County sandwiched in that schedule).

Well I saw yesterday where Montgomery Central knocked off Goodpasture 62-60 & Stewart County defeated Todd County, KY 46-41. I know that today Stewart County plays Trigg County, KY. That should (by my calculations) be the final district game before this Christmas weekend begins.

Here is a look at District 11-AA:

1.) Camden: 8-0 (2-0)

2.) Cheatham County: 9-4 (1-0)

2.) Waverly: 7-3 (1-0)

4.) Harpeth: 5-5 (1-1)

4.) Creek Wood: 5-6 (1-1)

6.) Stewart County: 4-8 (0-2)

6.) Montgomery Central: 3-9 (0-2)

Next week Harpeth plays at Overton in another holiday tourney, Cheatham County plays in a holiday tourney at Watertown, and Waverly plays in a holiday tourney at Hickman County. This will be the teams final chances to play multiple non-district games before the DISTRICT 11-AA SCHEDULE cranks up on Tuesday January 3rd.

The Cubs were led by a balanced scoring attack that saw Jacob Saunders score 15, Devin Conner score 14, Brady Bose score 9, Wesley Harlan score 8, and Thatcher Brinkley score 7. DeKalb County was paced by Stephen Howell who scored a game high 23 points and hit 5 three-pointers. Sonny Young added 17 points for the Tigers.
