Who finishes where?

1:Grainger: 0 seniors on last years District runner-up and regional semis team.

2-5: 3 Greene County teams and Greeneville--hard to pick between these so earlier in the season.

Greeneville has great PG and Shipley can score. Not much depth, but most teams don't have any either.

C-D has probably best PG in conference and couple other solid players in Riddle and Aubrey.

WG returns 4 solid players but lack depth.

SG has a great guard in Cutshaw, but lost most of their offensive production other than her.

6: Claiborne

7: Cumberland Gap

Player of the Year possibilities:

Frye--CD: unbelievable competitor and can carry her team to victories.

Christopher--Greeneville: same as Frye, just needs to look to score more this year.

Johnson--Grainger: post girl who scores anywhere on the floor; has good players around her so cant just key on her.

Cutshaw--SG: great athlete and scorer, not many scorers around her this year so teams may really lock her down.

C. Murphy--WG: quite possibly the best all-around player in conference; can score inside and out; at 6'1" she blocks and adjusts so many shots on the defensive end.

Glad it's time to talk bball. I agree with you most on the top four. They are all pretty close. I don't talk much here since my daughter plays. Greeneville vs. South Greene on Tuesday for a big game for both teams.

Have to agree with you overall. I think Grainger County will have a good year. As far as the Greeneville City vs. Greene County school debate, just fight it out on the court. I think that injuries to any of the team leaders you listed above could be season changers for those teams.

Grainger beats greeneville tonight cd beats claiborne I think. I heard the greeneville girls had a horrible start and made it close. They were down by 15-20 in first half and cut it to 3 or so before losing 8-10. CD wins big. I'm thinking CD may be 2 right now and Gville 3. Time will tell! Anything beyond that.

Way to go Grainger and CD for your W's this year. Both teams are just playing hard and with heart. Looking forward to your January 3rd game. Think it will be one of the best and most competitive games of the season in the whole district!

    • I have no clue if Derek tried to talk some since into his dad or not about staying here. All he is going to accomplish is going from the oven to the frying pan. If I were the coach all Ale would freze over before I set back and watched one of my good players leave without a fight.
    • If this is true, South Gibson is taking a big chance. Passing on an experienced coach for a guy who has never coached at the high school level is a high risk move, especially in that district and region.
    • Dorian Eskridge was HVA's best back, 2011
    • Jo Byrns was a very solid team last year. Imo, I thought they presented the biggest challenge for us on our path to winning it all last year. I expect them to be in the conversation and one of the final few teams playing in Murfreesboro
    • I'm not sure you understand anything if you think DB's career and AD's career are comparable.  This is a terrible take.   Not to slight AD, He was a good player and he got better as he matured after high school.   But Desean had over 8,000 yards in HS and was a two-time Mr. Football.
