ENSWORTH OR MARYVILLE

So you want to hang your hat on the 2 "Sole posters " who joined 1 week ago just for this thread with a total of 3 posts ... no one ever pretends to be someone they're not , do they ? I bet if you had asked some of the Baylor players about Ensworth after that first game they would of given you a perfect read on your team ... right ?

Easy solution , next time when Maryville asks to play , don't make up all the excuses if you want to have bragging rights over us . I normally ignore the IFL losses that Maryville has every year , just don't think it's fair to take a loss this year to a team that had a chance to play a real game .

Read my post again - simply put, I ain't hanging my hat on anyone's opinion - as I said, I DO NOT KNOW WHO WOULD WIN THIS GAME. If the purported Webb players are poseurs, then so be it - all I said is that players who have played against both teams are in a better position to judge than are you or I. I also have made no excuses, and neither has Ensworth. This was not a home-and-home offer and, as pointed out by KWoodruff, it was not even a fair offer from an economic sense. Sorry you seem unwilling or unable to appreciate excellence in any program other than your own. Best wishes to the Maryville Rebels.

FYI...Webb's best player and certainly a difference maker didn't participate against Ensworth. Not that it would have mattered in the outcome but something to consider when you do the comparison thing. Plus....you used Maryville's least talented teams...08, and 09...not that the comparison matters as well.

In the end I would have loved to see the teams play. Just a word of warning....you would be a fool to bet against a GQ coached team. His record against teams that are MUCH better and with far more talent is stellar.

I reiterate that I do not believe that the "common opponent analysis" is a reliable indicator of future success - I was simply responding to a poster who apparently thinks it is. As for the data used - it is simply that from the four most recent years - unlike the other poster, I made no attempt to pick and choose best years for any particular program. And again, I am not betting against Maryville's coach - or anyone else for that matter. I am a fan of George Quarles. I am a fan of Ricky Bowers. I am a fan of a whole host of other coaches, teachers and administrators in this State who provide a positive influence on the lives of our sons and daughters on a daily basis. I could care less if you think one of these individuals stands head and shoulders above any other - there is no one "best" for all circumstances. I am incredibly happy with those who have impacted my children in an academic and athletic sense and I wish the same for you.

    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
    • Going to grundle Troy Fleming?
    • I agree I don't think it will go to trial either, but I feel like that will be because no judge would deem this to warrant a law suit... If the school board settles, they loose and all coaches and schools loose too.
