Thanks for posting I just commented on another post asking about Holiday tournaments. No one ever seems to talk about high school basketball in Nashville. It is too bad as there are some quality teams that play at these tournaments each year but no one seems to know how to market their tournaments.

Basketball is alive and well in Nashville and I too, share your frustration about the lack of chatter about it in Nashville.

There are TWO count 2 good tournaments in the South Nashville Area and they are located within 2 miles from one another on Franklin Road just off the Harding Place exit on I-65 (JOHN OVERTON and FATHER RYAN). Come on out and support good basketball in a great enviornment, we would be glad to have you!

Most first round winners rolled big today in the opening round of the John Overton Holiday Tournament but it sets the stage for some competitive second round matchups. Here are today's winners;

Raleigh-Egypt rolls over Glencliff

University School of Nashville cruises over Springfield

John Overton cruises past Harpeth

Battle Ground Academy spanks Whites Creek

Wendesday 12/28/2011 Match ups;

Winners Bracket

John Overton vs Battle Ground Academy @ 5:30 PM Should be a good crowd in the battle of who plays faster!

University School of Nashville vs Memphis Raleigh-Egypt @ 8:30 PM Another fast game with lots of scoring!

*THE WOO WOO GAME SHOULD BE ALIVE AND WELL IN THE SEMI FINALS @ JOHN OVERTON ON WEDNESDAY*

Losers Bracket

Springfield vs Glencliff @ 11:30 AM Should be a highly competitive game from the looks of the teams today!

Harpeth vs Whites Creek @ 2:30 PM Should be a tough matchup for a long Whites Creek team!

Make that 3 tournaments within 2 miles. FRA,right next to Overton, is hosting an 18 team boys and girls tournament. The boys event features Brentwood Academy,FRA,Sycamore, Hillwood,Harding in Memphis,and a team from Georgia. I know this is a boys board, but the girls event is maybe the best mid-state tournament of the year. Some teams - FRA, CPA, Lipscomb, Ensworth, Franklin, Rossview, Sycamore, Tullahoma, Gallatin.

Lots of good basketball on Franklin Road this week.

Memphis Raleigh-Egypt 67 John Overton 63

John Overton down by 22 in 3rd Quarter rallies late for overtime but Raleigh-Egypt's inside game lead by 6'5" Billy Rosenberg and 6'7" Jatodd Lewis lead a balanced attack to hold off John Overton's quest for 4 tournament titles in a row.

3rd Place

Battle Ground Academy 66 University School of Nashville 51

Jordan Smith's 23 points lead BGA past an undermanned and gassed USN team that battled all the way.

Joshua Carruthers 16, Jerren Moore 12, and Eric Reed 12 lead the Creek past undermanned Glencliff lead by Bruce Pinkerton's 13 (4 threes) and Jalen Simpson's 10.
