granddadone
Looks like Science Hill, Grainger County and Cloudland are best bets to represent East Tenn in the State Tournament. Others who could possibly make it to the tourney are Morristown East, Tennesee High, and Elizabethton. Outside possibilities include Morristown West, Unicoi County, and who else??? I'd say Science Hill, Grainger and Cloudland are the best bets. Hampton could make it from D1A. But, unless someone has seen something I haven't, I don't see a D1AA representative or anyone else from D1AAA making it this year. THE KING
Bouncepass, I remember the 08-09 season all too well. Cloudland made the pre-season front page with their senior laden class and were supposed to be a fixture at the state tournament. That team wound up being over-hyped. They had no depth or height and were slower than the lady Bulldogs that year. Hampton wound up going to the final four. My point is this: I don't think its gonna happen this year because Cloudland IS everything they are on paper. They have speed, good shooters, and tall posts. I do think the Lady Bulldogs have a legitamite shot of going with the Lady Highlanders to the state tournament kind of like the boys did last year on both teams. coachh17
I agree that Hampton has a good chance. Science Hill and Cloudland will be very disappointed with anything less than a trip to Murfreeboro, but they still have to win the games. Grainger has to be the favorite of the AA teams to make it based on their consistency. The rest of our AA teams are erratic, though Unicoi County and Elizabethton have played some games at a very high level.

I could see Morristown East, Tennessee, or even Morristown West or possibly Sevier County beating any of the Knoxville area AAA teams on their home floor in the sub-state game. I see SH and Cloudland as East Tenn. best chance for a state title.

Those top 3 have all been impressive this year, and I have no reason to think they are gonna slow down now. Science Hill is one of the most balanced teams I have seen in a while and it shows on the floor. I haven't been overly impressed with Morristown East this year in the games I have watched. There is no doubt they are light years better than they have been recently, but I think they still have quite a way to go before being a true contender. That being said, I have only seen them play 4 or 5 games and they may prove me wrong...but I just don't see it happening for the Lady Canes this year. He forgets they were missing a starter and a player off the bench that plays a lot this year. East will have to win on the road IMO but I think Farragut will have the upper hand in Region 2. If East travels to Farragut (or where ever) they should have a really good chance to win. Region 2 is about the weakest I have seen in a long , long time. East starts 4 seniors and 1 junior with 2 high quality subs off the bench so if they are to make any noise it better be this year. If East don't make it to state this year they will have a long wait for the next opportunity.
TommyMan37604
Based on the news trottercoach said my region semi-finals look like this now. Science Hill vs. Boone - Science Hill Tenn. High vs. Morristown West- Tenn. High As I think Morristown West will win D2 and East finish 2nd. Boone played SH really tuff for a 3 quarters from what I heard. I can see them up ending D2 #2 seed as I see them finishing 3rd in D1

But watch out for Cherokee, their other big girl is back healthy. She (Taylor) scored 19 and had 15 rebounds in the win over East. D2 now could actually see West, East, Sevier, Cherokee or even Seymour winning the tournament. SH is a lock for sure unless something totally unfortunate happens. Did Tennesee beat West in overtime early in the season? Anyway, I know it was close and West's 4 starting sophmores have all improved quite a bit.
