Some people don't understand what the Travelers have done for AAU basketball in Tennessee and never will. They, the Travelers, should be commended or left alone. Question Mr. Rines, I noticed on the new nike eybl website you linked that there is a new team called the Bluff City Legends. Is this the YMOCA team? They have no city by their name. Where are they located? Also, have the Travelers moved to Nashville? They have them listed as a Nashville based team. It was my understanding that you all are headquartered in the Knoxville area.

These are great questions, and I agree the Travelers have been a good program and represented TN well over the years. However, there are many mid state players not willing or able to drive to Knoxville every weekend for early season practice that might be more inclined to play for the Travelers if they were based in a more central location like Nashville. I know its an invite only team, but there might be more to choose from if based in Nashville.

The Bluff City Legends is the same organization previously known as the Memphis Y.

We are based out of East and Middle Tennessee. We've had several players from Nashville and the Middle Tennessee area over the years. We practice in both Middle and East Tennessee. We often have players from as far East as Johnson City and North Carolina and as far North as Kentucky and Virgina, so we either find a central site and practice there or rotate practices between East and Middle Tennessee.

You may also want to point out that you don't practice 2-3 times a week.

    • Honestly the A.D. may be powerless at Maryville to some degree versus other schools. I know he has his hands full with GoFan and all the stupid surprises just from the emails he sends out during the season.
    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
