District 11 AAA

I am interested in who y'all think the best teams will be from this district and who the impact players will be?

My predictions are:

1. Brentwood, with many seniors leading the offense, and Shelton leading the rotation, this will be a tough team to beat. The loss of Ashcraft won't hurt as bad as people think.

2. Franklin, Don't know much about them but a scrappy team who will fight down to the last out, as they did with ravenwood and brentwood last year in the district tournament. The loss of Little will hurt but they will find a way to bounce back.

3. Ravenwood, with the new coach coming in, going to be hard to predict how they will pan out. They have limited varsity experience but with Ben Brock leading the rotation they will put up a fight. Look for surprising young talent to be a key role in their success this year on the varsity level.

4. Centenial, with a young class last year, they will have many guys coming up that have played varsity last year. Good young talent and will be especially good in years to come.

5. Indy, with the losses of Miller, Tuscano, Burdick, and other talented players, they will be a much weaker team than this district has seen over the past couple of years. Look for surprising young talent to play a key role in their success.

6. Hillsburro, Never a competitor in the district.

It’s good to get this discussion going again now that the season is almost here. Every year seniors graduate and it impacts the programs but Indy will really feel the loss this year. Add that to the departure of some younger players over to Summit and it looks like Indy’s reign at the top will finally end.

It is early to make predictions since all most of us have to go on is based on last year’s performance. Since last year, the returning players have all improved and have become stronger. There are also new players that will have an impact. With that being said, I expect the top teams to be Franklin and Brentwood with Centennial as a potential contender. These three teams each have a large group of returning players that have already proven themselves.

Franklin is deep in pitching with their key pitchers from last year returning. They lost their number one offensive producer from last year but if the returning players step-up offensively, they should be the team to beat.

Brentwood returns most of their potent offense from last year but the depth of their pitching staff may be their weakness. After their #1 I don’t know who else they have. If they have some effective new arms, they will be very tough to beat since they should remain strong offensively.

Centennial surprised teams last year and has most their team is back. They are not young anymore which should translate to improved performance and toughness. They don’t have any glaring weaknesses but they don’t have any superstars either.

Ravenwood and Indy will battle for the 4th and 5th spots. Each team has some good players but not the depth of quality players needed to contend for the title. This will be an exciting change to see some other teams battling it out for the district title this year.

Look, here's how it is going to be. Brentwood and Franklin, sure they have okay talent, but who (besides Hillsboro obviously) doesen't? They lack what a team like Ravenwood has. Balls. Those guys are grinding everyday right now. The starters this year all have the experience. They know that winning is the standard of Ravenwood Baseball and will be able to overcome anything that stands in their way.

I disagree. Centennial doesnt have what it takes to compete. Franklin will be the #2 for sure. Little lead them all year, without him they have nobody to step up and get the big hit. Sistrunk may be able too if he can get over his attitude problems. I wouldn't count out ravenwood either. They lost their good lefty pitcher along with the first and third baseman that led their offense, but lot of speed in their lineup and i wouldn't be surprised if a young guy stepped up and anchored their offense.

Yes but so are all of the other teams in the district. They will be a solid team. I agree.

I think that district will have three teams competing for the number one spot, here are my predictions and why.

1. Franklin- They have a heavy senior class this year, this will help them in the big games. They will be carried by there returning pitching staff lead by Robertson and Benorth. They lineup will be a little weak unless they can have a few people step up. Look for them to make it to a regional and maybe further if they can stay healthy.

2. Brentwood- They will be lead by shelton's arm and bat. They have a bunch of juniors that will have big years. They have a pretty good lineup which will make them hard to beat. The only down side to them is their pitching, besides shelton I cant name another pitcher in the rotation.Look for their season to end in the regional or sub-state.

3. Centennial- They will be a surpriser to people this year. They wont have a dominate pitcher or a dominate threat in the lineup but they will be the team you have to come out tough to beat them. They have a lot of juniors that have been playing for a year or two so they have some experience but i dont know if it will be enough this year... I see thim having a big year next year.

4. Ravenwood- They lost their coach all their good seniors and dont have anybody that I know of... you cant count them out just yet but dont look for them to be a dominate team this year.

5. Indy- Indy lost almost everybody they have, all they have returning is their number 3 pitcher and austin reed. Losing that much talent and the future of the team to summit I dont see them recovering from that and loook for them to have a really down year.

6. Hillsoboro- NO COMMENT

I think the district will come down to the brentwood vs frankllin matchup. It will be interesting to see the number 1's throw against each other this year. Hopefully someone from this district will go on to state to continue the dominance that has stated in the past decade.

I am sad to say this district has hit a low point this season. Indy has been struck by the new school bug. Our recent success can be attributed to great depth and talent and both are very scarce this year. Franklin hasn't had a winning record under their current coach, Brentwood has not been impressive since their legendary coach was ran out of town.

This district can be won by any of the Wilco teams. Luckily for them one will get to the Sub-State game just because they get to play a weak Metro team. The runner-up will have a chance at Overton this year as they will not be nearly as talented.

However none of these teams would be a top tier team in the power conferences of AAA baseball.

Agreed. This district is going to take a big step back this year but it won't take long for the talent to come back around.

Franklin will win the district this year led by the pitching of Robertson, Bennorth, and Payne. If Franklin can find an Offensive solution to replace Little, they could make a run for state this year. They will have a lot of weapons this year and a lot working toward there advantage. They easily have the most depth in there rotation this year, and probaly the best hitter in the district with Sistrunk. They also have the young kid behind the plate, could be the best catcher in the district and only a sophmore.

I don't agree at all. Franklin will be a good team, but there rotation won't be as strong as you say. Bennorth got rocked most of last year, and Sistrunk will be good as long as his attitude is in check. Who else do they have? Unless some guys step up then i doubt what you say is true..

If you dont think Franklin will win the district then who will? Brentwood is the only team in the district this year that can compete with Franklin, and besides Shelton, Brentwood doesn't have another arm in the rotation. Franklin will have 8 senior pitchers this year, without a doubt the most depth in the district. Sure the guys at Brentwood can hit, but so can Franklin. Franklin wins the district this year, and don't be surprised if they make a run for the state tournament.
