Region 6

Can you clarify something for me, I am seeing a lot of kids seeded number 1 or 2 in a weight class that have not wrestled at that class all year. Dont you have to have a certain number of matches at that weight to get seeded. I was always under the impression that if you enter the regional tournament at a weight that you have not wrestled at all year that you did not get seeded.

Seeding is based on past TSSAA placing then past regionals placing then head to head etc etc... So for instance my guess to 138 seeding will be as follows,

1. Woods (Franklin)- 3rd '10, 3rd '11

2. Little (Indy)- 4th '11

3. Warren (Ravenwood)

So even though Warren is ranked higher then Little and they have a common opponent in Strickland from Cleveland I believe Little will be seeded higher because of his medal at state last year. Not like that really matters because either way they'll wrestle in the semis.

On a side note if you're in the area tomorrow night, wrestling starts at 4 at Overton and ole WG himself will be adding some color commentary throughout the two days. So stop by the head table and say hey!

So does that mean that last years states and regional placing over ride head to head this year? Just seems to me that if you are going to be seeded number 1 in a weight class you should have to earn it in that class. Thats how they even do it for most middle school championships. If you drop or go up a weight and dont have neough matches you go into tournament not seeded

Have fun tomorrow with the whole color commentary and be nice

Just like the state tourney placing supersedes head to head, and I plan on it, if you're there stop by and say hey.

Well once again WG is wrong in his assessment of things. If you had any idea what happens in the coach's meetings, the bylaws for the region state that seeding will be

1. Head to head

2. Common Opponent

3. Returning State Medalist

4. Returning Region medalist

Most of us have no idea what goes on in coaches' meetings since we aren't coaches. Where do you coach?

    • Hope the catcher on baseball team come back out and play's football . He didn't play last year if I remember but I don't remember much after that wreck anyways.. But he did play his freshman and soph years and I thought was a very good player. He's put on some size now, so I'm hoping he's thinking about playing again..
    • Pirates are young this year.  Gordy can sleep on them.
    • They’ll get it worked out eventually.Farragut is too good of a program to be down for long. As an OR fan, I can’t really say I’m too distraught about it though.
    • I didn’t even see that until you said something, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Yes, the coaches can’t get along with each other. But I don’t think they’re openly taking shots at each other right in front of the parents. If they are, that’s pitiful though, that’s really pitiful. I sure hope they’re not, but yeah, I’ve heard the same thing from players over at Farragut getting fed up, and I feel as though what the coaching staff has been trying to keep under the prying eyes of the parents is now out on full display.
    • and there is definitely a reason for that—more than just Catholic recruiting.
