davidlimbaugh
Coach Peterson retired on July 5th. http://www.goblueraiders.com/content.cfm/id/61600 It is now August 8th after 5:00pm Coach McGuire Should Have been named head coach on July 6th! This situation is terrible. It is a slap in the face at loyalty and hard work. What message does this send others at Middle, from professors to hourly staff, when a long-time, faithful employee is treated this way? You can't complain when football assistant coaches come and go when they see that staying here doesn't benefit them in the long run. I am angry. I have a hunch a lot of my friends are angry. I sent an email to the president, http://mtpress.mtsu.edu/president/ a few days ago and have yet to get a reply. I bet you if I was offering to give money to the school a reply would have came back faster than an instant message! I know one thing, if McGuire is not named the next coach I will go to the next home game just long enough to take my name off the chair I bought and never set foot in Reese Smith Stadium again. REDSMAN
I will say it again: Jim McGuire is not only the obvious choice because of his loyalty to MTSU, he is one of the best coaches in college baseball. Coach Pete deserves the respect to name his successor I believe... IF he is not named next head coach, MTSU is poo my book.

CJDore
Hard to recruit to MTSU? I say no. I think the coaches are lazy. My son plays high school ball and plays on one of the most competitive travel teams in the middle TN area, yet I never see MTSU coaches at games. I have seen Vanderbilt, Murry, APSU, ETSU, UT-M, Belmont, Lipscomb, Columbia State, Jackson State, Maryville College, Rhodes, but NO sign of MTSU at any games. If this new coach wants to be a power, he better not miss the local talent.

You would be hard pressed to find a talented player in the southeast that Mags isn't familiar with. Don't believe me? Stop by his office sometime and quiz him on a team or player. Then you can call him lazy.
REDSMAN
You are way off CJDore...I can assure you that Jim McGuire is the best of the bunch. Just because you don't notice them, doesn't mean they aren't around.

Check out the roster. http://www.goblueraiders.com/roster.cfm/sport/baseball/season/2013 Do you have any idea how involved Middle is with baseball in the area? Hosting the TBCA showcase each year and summer tournaments? Bryce Brentz set the school's single season hit record a couple of years ago. Michael McKenry extending his hitting streak to 9 games today for the Pirates and fans bring Fort signs to PNC Park. Before Brentz broke the record do you know who held the record? Wayne Kendrick of Murfreesboro, Riverdale. Another ex-Riverdale pitcher was named to the freshman All-American team this year. I can assure you the coaching staff at Middle is far from lazy. Ex-Warrior and Blue Raider Coty Woods is a closer in AAA: http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=573254 Brentz's (from South Doyle) numbers: http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=CF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=518490 Ex-Warrior and Blue Raider Will Skinner's season: http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=607281 Ex-Germantown Houston and Blue Raider Rawley Bishop: http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=1B&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=446392 Some great players (and better young men) have come through Middle over the years. I have had the pleasure to know them and the coaching staff over the years.

unidawg
Waaaaaay off base CJDore. McGuire has probably been one of the most prominent recruiting/scouting fixtures in the area. You would be hard pressed to go to a middle TN 17-18U elite level tourney and not see him. Won't see him at many HS games due to being in season for him as well. Very wired in with local talent.
