Don't know. These things go in cycles and FHS has been on a pretty good run until this year. We'll see what DW can do with 2-3 years of working with the kids. Talent level is important, but so is good solid coaching and I believe FHS has that now.

Hogan can sugar coat it all he wants but there has been a dramatic drop off in either talent or coaching. I am going to say both. The FHS adminstration ousted a successful coach for this??

 

Webb is a great defensive mind but some guys should not be head coaches. That is my opinion if that bothers you I am sorry. I know how it feels to have a team with a HC who is in over his head.

 

I can't wait to see your response when Hillsboro beats Franklin.

We are all biased toward our home teams, that is apparent. What is good to see after last night's game is, the two teams came together to support a worthy cause in Jack Johnson in the Battle for Jack. This transcends the game in seriousness. Secondly, all of the fans (on both sides of the ball) seem to be gracious and WELL BEHAVED....(ok, except the quasi streaker which I thought was funny).

 

As for football, there are many more games to be played before someone emerges at the top or bottom of 5A or 6A. What I can say is Centennial plays as a team, with a tremendous amount of heart, and is extremely well coached. For the previous comments about Rector's bandwagon (and his staff), he may not be the coach for every school or team, but these boys and their familes and student body are indebted to what he has done for the school spirit and are certainly on his bandwagon and Dr. Brown.

 

What I look forward to is seeing Brentwood and Centennial meet just to see the game fought hard.

It's really comical to read the comments about Franklin football by some folks on here who know nothing about Franklin High or football. Coach Webb has done an outstanding job returning pride, character, team work and trust back to the football program at Franklin High. The adminstration at Franklin has done an outstanding job in supporting the football program who has now played two outstanding football teams in it's first 3 games. In, fact they both are most likely the best football teams in each school's history. Check out the scores of Siegel's past two games and I fully expect Siegel and Centennial to lose only 2 games between both of them this regular season.

Franklin is now 15-1 against Centennial, not too shabby--the Cougars were going to win at some point and with the new once Franklin zone that covers their school and the open zone rules that apply to the Cougars-what do you expect?

Congrats to the Cougars-it was all set up for you and you took advantage of an young and inexperienced Rebel football team. Tomlin was outstanding and a great leader for the Cougars last night. Players make plays and they did last night for the Cougars.

Coach Webb is the man for Franklin as Coach Rector is the man for Centennial and they shall meet again!!!!

I thought with Franklins past history they would be above moral victories.. All that pride/character/teamwork stuff doesn't mean a thing if you don't win ball games.. Congrats to Centennial.. 16th time was the charm.

Oh...OK, lets just throw everything out the window just to win games, I thought this was high school football and high school kids....not the Pro Game. Pride, character, team work and trust do mean alot to most all teams and coaches that win or lose.

I agree it matters to an extent. But if you don't win games then the lesson is lost on the fan base, and even some of the players and that's the bottom line. Like Dennis green once said, you play to win the game.

So, are you trying to say Franklin didn't play "to win the game"......I sure hope not!!!

 

Franklin will win plenty games this season and will only get better as the season rolls on. The Rebels play to win each time they take the field!!!

Good points Hogan. Unfortunately, the ignorance and jealousy of Indy will not allow him to be logical. No football knowledge + no common sense + FHS jealousy= several stupid posts. Really pathetic.

 

Thought we were staying on football and not on school administrations. Anybody upset with this or is it only when it involves chs?

I would venture to say that you know exactly when the Hillsboro Franklin game will be played. You started your screen name right after Clayton leaves Franklin and by looking at your posts, you spent a lot of time on Metro topics and then back to Williamson County especially Franklin topics. I would say that you are an ex-coach at Franklin or a very close friend of the program. One of your posts even ask "What is happening at Hillsboro?"

 

Why don't you work and play at Hillsboro and Hogan why don't you work and play at Franklin and both of you allow this board to be about football.

Heck Coach Winkler (yea we all know it's you), what is comical is you posting here after having our ####es kicked last night and even a couple of weeks ago. We oldtimers are insulted that you have disparaged Rebel football history by claiming the greatest team ever. Ive watched Rebel ball for 20+ years and your comment is a joke. So what coaches on your staff and past players did NOT play with character and integrity last year and the past?. We respect Coach Donnie as a man and coach (head coach we are waiting to see) but what bothers us is he is stuck with losers like you and your cronies that Clayton cleared out so we could have a successful program. Hard to imagine a coach much less a teacher would discredit student athletes and fellow coaches. Donnie put a collar on this guy and stick him in the film room where he can learn something.
