Greeneville vs Franklin County Sept. 7

I'm pretty sure both teams had a late cancellation in their schedule last year. I think Greeneville may be smart to schedule a tough out of state opponent... Maybe show off our facilities to some boys from North Carolina or Virginia. There are some purty good teams here in the upstate of South Carolina as well and all would be closer than Winchester.

Dang Barb. You left the blindside wide open on that one!!!!icon_e_biggrin.gif

Gate money is not the most important thing in high school football. How can you say "bad decision"? Do you know why they did?

Maryville travels well, maybe greeneville should pick them up. If they don't, it would be such a "bad decision"

It has a lot to do with money. Why do you think the state is staying with 6 classes? Almost every high school anywhere, and even colleges, rely on their football teams to fund the entire athletic department. So somebody does suffer. Look at the teams, that took Greenevilles spot on the schedule. Not real good football teams, Greeneville goes 15-0, and is trying to reschedule before the 2011 season with the majority of their team coming back. I bet you when Greeneville does their scheduling this year those teams won't run and hide. Maybe Greeneville will be able to fill a schedule before April or May this upcoming offseason. Barb, it was not due to a cancelation in Greeneville's schedule. They only had 9 games for a very long time. Tried to get a team out of Sevier County to play and they went to North Carolina. Franklin County was the closest team that would play Greeneville.

Nevermind the teams that won't play Greeneville. You're splitting hairs here. A large portion of the information being presented, (not all), is "hearsay" anyhow. None of us can be 100% certain why Elizabethton dropped Greeneville. All we know is that it happened, and Greeneville played Franklin County the past two years. Gate money is a big deal of the equation, but it's certainly not the only thing. If it were, Greeneville would still be playing the Sullivan South's and the Elizabethton's. However, it isn't; and therefore, we should continue putting our efforts into something more tangible rather than relying on the banter back-and-forth to shed light on a black hole of facts.
