I have nothing but respect for your program, but not being on the sidelines as I was, there was a lot of jawing going on from both sides. But to call all Memphis public school's players thugs, is like someone saying everyone from Milan has scars on their ankles because they had to chain them down to put shoes on them. Neither of these statements are true and for you to make blanket statements just isn't very wise. Oh well, I wish y'all luck in the playoffs and hope you win it all.

fb you are right. I shouldnt lump all memphis schools together. I apologize. if you were on the sidelines you should be even more ashamed. Jawing and hitting 5 seconds after the play are unacceptable. The job of high school coaches is to mold young boys into men. Did nt see any leadership on manassas sidelines to discipline anyone. And cheering when the young man from milan was hurt. Low class. Just telling it like it was.

fb yall have athletes all over the field just NO DISCIPLINE. The one time the milan player got a personal foul he came out of game immediately and got a butt chewing. never even saw a coach of yours as much as scold a player. Just no room for that in high school sports. Good luck next year and hope kids grow up. Im done ranting

Well sir, if you want to open up a can of worms you sure have. I was on the sideline and I know how I handle the young men. If you were at the game, when the young man was injured, two coaches from Manassas came out on the field, one to check on the injured player and another to chew butt on the field. Guess who was chewing butt???? To take it a step further, since you opened that door, what do you do for young underprivileged kids that want to play football, stay off the streets, stay in school, or just need help in many different ways? Well, let me tell you what several black and white volunteer coaches do; we coach, mentor, discipline, tutor, help with transportation, etc.

By the way, we hope the young man that was injured is alright and bid Milan nothing but well wishes going forward.

    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
    • Mistakes like that should never happen.
