WV was up almost 30 at the half on Grundy and dropped back and played zone the second half with everyone getting to play.

Why not Notre Dame? Wow the Chattanooga area is down bad this year if someone even has to ask this question. ND came to a tournament up here and went 0-3 with the losses being around 20 points. One of these bad losses being to a 7th place district team.

 

You are correct. Chattanooga area teams are down. I know of 15 freshman that are starting and playing big rolls for their teams this year. Notre Dame has at least 2 freshman starting and Baylor 3 starting freshman. These teams will get stronger as the year goes on and they gain experience. The 2014-15 season will be very strong for Chatt area when these girls mature.

I didn't give Silverdale much thought to be honest due to their results so far..7-4 with one win vs non-TSSAA Berean and a forfeit win vs non-TSSAA Gabriel. Wins vs Boyd, Red Bank, Grace, Lookout Valley, each are rebuilding and LFO, GA. Losses to Polk and CCS which are rebuilding. All that doesn't mean they won't be the favorite in the district and possibly make noise in the region.

 

SBA definitely has not played well at times. The loss to CCS was due to Massengil getting hurt in 2nd quarter. Polk was 14-20 from 3 pt range in that one. SBA is not deep, only 10 girls on the team, rotating 8, wth a freshman starting and another coming off bench. Only one player over 5-7 and she is the freshman coming off bench at 5'10''. Massengil gives them the chance to upset anyone, she could be averaging over 40 pts a game if they had not blown out their opponents in most of the wins. They should go undefeated in District with a shot to beat Whitwell in Regions. That would be a huge accomplishment for them.

I was very surprised to see Baylor win the tournament. If they continue to focus on girls basketball the way they have to softball they could be a powerhouse, drawing from all over the area including North Georgia.

Indian, who do you see coming out of Chatt. in class A this year? Will it be Whitwell and Van Buren Co again or do you follow class A much.

WItnessed SBA leave Massengil in well into the 4th quarter up 50 plus against Red Bank playing man picking up at half court. She got a number of steals and uncontested layups in the 4th quarter. Probably the reason she is averaging what she is. Lost a lot of respect for SBA.

Yep...you see this a lot not by just SBA but others too....with the objective being "Best of Preps" King or Queen for a day because all the Times really looks at to determine is stats.

I wondered that about Sequoyah. In my opinion, they're slightly better than Meigs having watched McMinn Central play both teams. The two haven't played each other though, so we'll see in the next few weeks if I'm right. Definitely the most competitive 5-AA has been in years. Probably since Walker Valley moved up in the mid-00's. I think it's good for MC considering traditionally we get ready for tournament time by playing a difficult non-district schedule. I just wish we still played a home and home with Bradley. Those were always great games.

It's definitely good for McMinn Central to have stronger District competition. Winning the District and Region has been too easy for them in years past. Both Sequoyah and Meigs are capable of beating Central, though neither have done it yet. Meigs returns all their starters next year, so they're probably a step behing Sequoyah and Central, but still capable. McMinn Central's loss to McMinn County Friday night can be a building block of learning for the Chargerettes too, as they prepare for the season's finish. Losing Kelsey Myers for the season really took a lot of punch out of them, but they still have enough to win the District and Region.
