Yes. Jackson co is a couple years of away. i was also surprised Clay lost that game. I’ve seen it happen before, where a really good team gets beat on another teams home floor at substate. It’s just a magical atmosphere. (Hosting substate)

Maybe the latter years...but the 4 strait in AA from 00 to 03 was all home grown players. After that I know of another championship. The last one we won over Union City was only one move in who didn’t even start. It wasn’t the only reason Jackson County was successful.

2004 Jackson County coming off 4 strait state championships. Started the year by beating the #1 team in the nation Shelbyville. Lost in the sub state to a very good McMinn Central team ending the historic chance for 5 in a row.

My niece is a freshmen on the team. They struggle to score, nobody has any confidence. SUPER YOUNG! It will get better Coach Brown is a great coach. Just won’t be this year guys. I just hope they can get one against Monterey or Gordonsville maybe...I think a win would really help things.

For you people that aren’t familiar with Monterey...they have been the basement dweller of district 7A/6A for decades. They had their school shut down, didn’t have a gym for years. They finally got their new facilities and I think everyone from 7A/6A are so happy for the season they had. Congrats from a Jackson Countian on a great season!!

I remember those RidgeRunners teams...my sister played on the Shelbyville Sport Shop team they played against. Those were two great AAU teams.

Clay Co played great. I think Douglass thought they had a cake walk, which I don’t understand. Clay co came within a hair of winning it all last year. I know they lost Key, but they are still strong. They lose nobody also!! Should be a favorite next year.

Jackson County had quite a run from 1999-2015. 7 state championships 3 runner ups. Nationally ranked in 2002. Beat #1 ranked nationally Shelbyville in 2003. 4 strait titles from 2000-2003, close to 5 as they were runner up in 99.

Jackson Co won 4 while in 8 AA...not sure if that counts for your count. Ha

Congrats. It sure is a good feeling...Espically when you have a family member on the team. Which I experienced 5 times. So fun! Greenfeild was for sure the best team in Class A!

Unaka really reminds me of the Loretto team that put the #1 ranked Jackson Co out in the first round 5 or 6 years ago. Very good team. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them playing for the gold ball Saturday.

Pickett Co has really had tough draws...just surprising they didn’t pull any out as good as they have been.

Tech doesn’t recruit locals any more...my sister was in the last group of several locals on the same Tennessee Tech team. They have had couple since then, but mainly Georgia players like Mr. Basketball said. I saw Miss Pritchett play when she was younger, she was great then. Can only imagine how good she is now. Well deserved.

Same thing happened to Jackson Co a few years back...beat Clay Co by nearly 40 the first time they met. Then each game got a little bit closer, till Clay Co beat us in the state finals.

Trousdale is a district team now...they have no choice on them.

Looks like Monterey was down at halftime 15-14 and kicked a field goal to win in a defensive second half 17-15. Hate it for my Devils...was hoping for them to pull it out. Anyone that was at the game??
