Heard the price has gone up and the level of competition is down...How would you compare this years version with the past? How have the crowds been? Atmosphere at Chatt State?

They should change the name to "Chatt-State" Christmas Tournament because it is not representative of the best teams in Chattanooga. Don't know about the crowds and the move to Chattanooga State was about three years too late. Many teams didn't return because of various reasons. Half of the Boys teams invited didn't have a winning record so how can that be "Best Of"???

Brainerd is playing in the 13th place game at Maryville tourney. Cleveland is playing in the 5th place game at Bearden. Is Chattanooga basketball just down this year?

After talking a little bit with Stephen Hargis, it was because of a late start in planning that caused some of the past participants not to come this year. Add the fact that Hixson had a tournament going on at the same time, some of the top teams didn't come. Crowds have been pretty good, Chatt St. is around 2500 capacity and the gym would have been closed during some of the girls' games if it was at CSAS. You are correct, it is a few years too late in moving there. Parking is good and the facilities is a lot better.

Say what you want about Chatt State being a good move. The atmosphere that the CSAS's gym created over the past 4 best of preps is unmatched in Chattanooga basketball. Sure it may be tight and parking is not great, but the closeness of the crowd and how loud the gym gets...you can't find that anywhere else.

of coarse i am bias but i dont think this tourney has been the same since Howard hasnt played but they did win every year
