OK I will start it. The district is really up for grabs. IMO Central is the team to beat with Red Bank Right behind them. East Hamilton comming in 3rd, and they must replace some pitching if we have any shot. Hagen Wilkey from Red Bank is the real deal on the mound, and might be one of the top AA pitchers in the State. The kid from Central is also a great pitcher (Dominique) Keep an eye out for Matty Henshaw and Hunter Smith from East Ham they could surprise some folks on the hill.

Chattanooga Central is the team to beat in 6AA. They are very deep in pitching this season thanks to a couple of transfers. SR's Dominique Dawson, Colton Morgan and Sophomore Tyler Lowe return on the mound along with Sr Transfer Chase Spurgeon, Sr Bo Evans, and Jr Tristan Wood. Catcher Ryan Poole is one of the best catchers not only in the Chattanooga area, but in the state. Sophomore's Tyler Lowe, Gabe Fomby, and Scout Morgan will provide the youth movement needed to possibly get this team to the next level. There is a lot of high expectations on Hwy 58 this year and this team will not settle for nothing short of a trip to Murfreesboro.

Behind Central, Look for Red Bank to make a run at the district title also. Lions took a hit when Catcher Tyler Phillips hurt his knee in Football. Not sure if or when he will return to the line up. Hagen Wilkey is a superstar and should lead this team along with fellow Senior Gage Winton and Ryder Pierce.

East Hamilton will drop to third this season after losing several off last years team. Matty Hinshaw and Austin Gatewood and Hunter Smith to lead.

Tyner may have one of there better teams, but will not be enough to overtake the 3 powers above. Pitcher Chae Butler is a very solid pitcher and should do pretty well this season.

Look for Hixson to be much improved than last year, but still may be a few years away from competing.

East Ridge, Brainerd and Howard will round out the bottom of the district.

You are correct in saying that Tyler Phillips is recovering from a knee injury, but he is recovering quickly and is ahead of what is expected. He will return around spring break but not resume his catching duties this year. Gage Winton will do a great job filling in that spot. Tyler will be attending Covenant in the fall and will be able to resume his catching duties then for the Scots. Tyler will be on the field for the Lions somewhere, probably 1 st base.

Tyler is a great player. Hope he has a speedy recovery and a great career at Covenant next season. He is one of the better hitters in this area.

Very disappointing senior year for him, not finishing football and now not getting to finish behind the plate. At the end of the season last year he throwing out 70% of the guys stealing at 2nd base and this year probably would have probably been higher. He was finally beginning to excel behind the plate. He has a long way to go to get his bat back up to speed but he is ready to hit it head on and is also looking forward to playing college ball next year.

You may be much overestimating Central's talent a little!

A trip to the State? LOL.

Pounders got beat up a little vs Ga home school, in scrimmage. But it was a scrimmiage and that team is pretty good. East Ham played 3 5 inning games vs McCallie last Sat. tied 1st 6-6, won second 7-2, lost third 10-5.

I think Central will be pretty good, very good pitching, and the hitting will come. Remember Red Bank went to Murfreesboro with a losing record last year, its who gets hot at the right time.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
