The District Tournaments are just about set to begin.  AA looks like it will be a lot of fun this year and appears to have no clear cut favorite.  Who will navigate the pitfalls and hurdles and make it to Murfreesboro?  Here are my picks:

CAK-  (Hammaker can score 40 if you do not game plan to slow her down)

Elizabethton-  (Marosites twins are fun to watch and the Lady Cyclones are deep and talented)

Cannon County-  (I know Sissom can light it up)

Livingston Academy-  (loaded with tradition and just beat Cannon)

Creek Wood-  (Bell is a great player, had a couple of losses at Boone tournament that surprised me)

Martin Luther King-  (I know nothing about this team)

Dyersburg-  (I know nothing about this team)

Westview-  (Great tradition and seem to be peaking at the right time)

Please give predictions and tell us about your teams.

I do not think there have been any major upsets yet and all 8 of my predictions are still on track. I predicted CAK to make it before I knew that Hooper was coming back. With her, they become the favorite in my mind. Elizabethton and Grainger are on a collision course for a big game in Region 1, barring any upsets. Sycamore has been mentioned as a sleeper in middle Tennessee. I think Gatlinburg Pittman and Knox Fulton could make it from the east. Are there other sleepers playing well in the middle and west?

region 2 should be great basketball! Fulton has a great young team and pulled out a close overtime win with gatlinburg-pittman in their district championship. Cak pulled off a last second win with alcoa (scoring 5 points in the last 3 seconds) in their district championship. If things go the way they should, those four teams will battle in the semi s.  i am Looking forward to the Gatlinburg-Pittman vs. Cak match-up!!!  Good luck to all

Not really I was at game and they shot the ball worse than they have all year. They lost to a team they had beat twice by 16+ both times. Also over half their shots were half way down then came out. It was definition of "of any given day"

If you are a contender for the AA crown (which was stated) you don't lose to a team that you've beaten by 16+ twice. IMO that's the definition of the term OVERRATED.

Sycamore and McMinn Central were upset, but I did not have them in my final eight so I do not consider them major upsets.  Just my opinion, not having seen either of them play.

Not sure you can call McMinn Central's loss an upset. Without Young, they're not a lot more than an average team in a weak district. It's going to be interesting to see if they continue to receive the talent they've received in the past, if their record reverts to what it was it was prior to Young's tenure.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
