Maryville - 3

GPS - 2

....though there is not a lot of credit in the comment, Maryville lost 1 game this year; pre-season (ND)

ND - 0

Baylor - 0

..another typical night for the Lady Fighting Irish.......should have had this one all day.....dominated the back and struggled mid to up front....If the Irish is going to make this run and close the deal, they have to figure out how to transfer the game mid to net

...Booger just sayin

Baylor had a lot of actual scoring ops but ND's keeper eliminated those shots easily...ND does need more support up front in order to score in my opinion, but that is a classic ND formation issue...(2 versus 4+ are poor offensive odds) and isn't going to change....Baylor certainly did not 'park the bus' like I had thought in another post (Baylor had no subs), and kept the game going, but way too many missed opportunities on crosses by ND  within the box that did not get finished...Was hoping that if there was ever a year to beat Baylor, this was going to be it, and glad at least Baylor opted to play ND this season, since 2 years ago, Baylor cancelled the game due to not a strong enough team to play ( they had plenty of numbers to field a team, just not enough healthy starters it seemed to be able to beat ND)

Though the ND defenders did their job in keeping the ball out of the net, they were to quick to clear. Not "finding feet" as they say, or just clearing it out of bounds. I'd love to see a defender with an attacker on her back tap the ball back to the keeper and switch the field. Or would love to see the keeper roll it out to a player versus booting the ball 60 yards every time. Keeper did roll it out once, and Baylor was so surprised and so deep that a great ND attack resulted. ND had lots more chances on the crosses, just couldn't get the foot or head on the ball. I don't remember a legitimate shot from Baylor. There were maybe 2 dangerous Baylor crosses.

ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.....I have seen the Lady Irish play twice this year (CCS and Signal) and both games were very frustrating to watch due to the lack of sustained possession by the Irish.  The inordinate number of 50/50 balls coming from the Irish players obviously does not help score goals.  Seems like they just don't trust their own foot skills, and it also appears that they don't trust their teammates to back them up if they make a mistake using their foot skills.  Stringing more than 2 passes together is a rarity.

They are setting themselves up for an upset if they don't come up with a more organized attack.

However, I still think they will be in the Final 8.

Boyd Buc isn't a threat.  Signal dominated that game but once again has to win their way out of a tough district.  Hopefully Signal or CCS or ND can make some noise at state.  Don't see any of the three teams as state champs.  But sometimes chemistry and a few good bounces make a difference.

    • Who’s going to lead the pirates offense this year?
    • Pickett is good, may have a Mr. Football like season if he’s used correctly. One of the best teams Marion has fielded in a while. I think they go 12-1 and loose to ER.  ER has better players at almost every position. If they play discipline this year, they win soundly. If they don’t though…Marion could sneak away with it.
    • I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.
    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
