harding held ecs to just 36 yards rushing and held 6'8 tight end brad cottam to just 4 yards receiving on 1 catch. both teams scored on their first possession and it was tied at halftime 7-7. each team scored once more and it was tied after 4 quarters. the lions defense stepped up in overtime and forced a field goal attempt which was missed. then on harding's first play justin reeves hooked up with trey williams for a touchdown and won the game for harding 20-14

I attened the game and it was great. Harding came out on their first drive and took it down ECS throats and ended with a short TD pass to Tre. ECS then had a couple big passes to get down to the Harding goaline and they found Cottam on a short 4 yard TD pass on thrid down. (as said before that was cottams only catch of the night). The game was dominated by tournovers, Cox took the picth on Hardings next drive and fumbled it giving ECS great firld position but Harding forced a ECS fumble on the 1 YARD LINE to get the ball back. Then Todd went 77 yards on the enxt play down to the ECS 5 but after Tre droped a pass in the endzone, the exchange btween Reeves and the center was fumbled and ECS recovered. The a couple INT's led to halftime tied at 7-7. ECS got the ball to start the 2nd Half and on thier first play, hooked up with Hall Simmons for a 60 yard screen pass that resulted in a TD. Harding got the ball back and strted on thier 20, but where backed up because of a holding penalty and a sack to put them on the 5. Harding decided to run on third down and just punt it away, but Cortez Mack broke 3 tackles at the line and made the big 3rd down 25 conversion. Reeves then hooked up with Cox 4 or 5 plays later for a 45 yard TD pass. to make the score 14-14, then both teams trdaed punts and turnovers in the 4th qtr. Harding won the toss and decided to play Defense and they came up big forcing a fourth down, and the kick sailed wide left. Harding then went to Tre on the first play for the win 20-14! We are all real proud of all of you and good luck next week against BGA u deserved last night defense, hold a team that got 250 yards in week 8 on you to 36 YARDS rushing. and holding a Tight End who had 100 yards on you to 4. The stas where as followed

Reeves 118 yards, 1 INT, 3 TD

Williams 4 rec. 39 yards 2 TD

Cox 1 rec 45 yards 1TD

Cox 3 rushes 79 yards

Mack 15 rushes 79 yards

Harding played a great game. The offense played one of the best games I had seen them play. They lauched a well-balanced attack, something that they will need against BGA. On the opening drive, they marched down the field and scored a TD. Cortez Mack had an excellent game, and went out in the 4th quarter with cramps. He should be 100% by Friday. Senior QB Justin Reeves was the big story of the night. He was hurt last week and had a walking boot all week. He didn't even get to practice with the team this week. But he stepped up, recognized what needed to be don, and did it. He found Trey when he needed to, and wasn't afraid to leave the pocket, despite his injury. He kept the ball 11 times and had 55 yards on the ground. He made his Varsity QB debut last year at BGA in the Semi-Finals, due to QB Jan Williams injury two days before the game. He has grown into a dangerous threat and an accurate passer. With a whole season of experience, he will get one more shot at BGA this Friday on his field. The biggest problem with the Harding offense was turnovers. Many of them took place with the team in scoring range. If Harding is going to beat BGA, they can't make those mistakes. Harding's defense also stepped up big against ECS. They created enough ECS turnovers to stay in the game, many of those near the goal line as well. Sr. Andy Irwin played a great game and finished with a big interception. The defense was able to effectively stop the run, something they will need to do against BGA, who ran 352 yds on Webb Friday night. ECS's only 2 scores came off of short passes with breakaway recievers. The biggest stand of the night came in the overtime, when ECS started on the 10 yard line, and Harding held them for 3 downs and a missed field goal. Harding got a shot from the 10 and Reeves hooked up with Sr. WR Trey Williams for the TD on 1st down. Harding did an awesome job. Don't count them out as they return to Park and Cherry next Friday in a rematch with Battle Ground. As a sidenote, great job to the Harding Football Cheerleaders, who competed in the State Championships on Saturday. Altough they didn't place in the top 3 of the Small Varsity Division, the largest division, they nailed their routine flawlessly and looked awesome.

GO LIONS!!!
