Passion is great. I agree with that. But it is hard to justify the time away from family if it don't pay the bills.

Some of the coaches don't teach real classes and usually have at least one less teaching period, but they still get full teacher salary. I think it balances out overall.

Trojan train those coaches also spend an extra 3 to 3 and 1/2 hours extra after school Monday thru thursday,and usually don't get home to midnight or after on Fridays during football season. During season also throw in the 4-6 hours minimum over the weekend spent game planning as well. Not to mention the hours spent in the off season weightlifting players, taking them home etc. Throw in summer lifting, field maintenance in a lot of cases and you get the point. Doesn't really balance out. Because most coaches also teach classes, whether you consider them "real" or not and work as teachers as well. So in my opinion the pay does not balance out

Assistants in Jackson for football start at $4000 and top out at $5000.....throw me a few numbers that make that seem sub par except in Milan. What are some better paying districts? Facilities?....Liberty's miniature EVERYTHING in their fieldhouse seems pretty sub par if you have seen it.

jackson public schools have to "share" all funding from the co/state/gov...liberty cant just add on to their sporting facilities...as BPM said...they are the newest addition...so their wants will be at the bottom of the list for the foreseeable future...

 

im sorry our "miniature EVERYTHING" underwhelms you...think of it like this...you only have to show up once every other year to take your L and go on about your business

 

in the mean time...we will continue to produce athletes and send them to college...maybe one day we wont have to worry about how poorly jcm operates and the other schools in the county can push towards an elite status that our surrounding counties have achieved

 

i dream of a day when madison co has 1 public school and 1 private school...massive clashes on the athletic fields and championships galore...but people here are more concerned about a history that wasnt and a prejudice that is equally bad from all sides...instead of the well being of our children and the possibility of improving their futures
