Both tournaments have now been cancelled, leading to these pairing. First round games are at the higher seed. Will be played Tuesday at 7. All rounds afterward will be played at Harriman.

Should be a great tournament. Good luck to all.

Jellico@Meigs

Tellico@Coalfield

Should be a good district tournament. I'll take the home teams in the first round then Grace and Meigs in the semis. I think GCA revenges the loss from last years region championship.

Oakdale is packing a lot of support, that'll give them an extra boost through the tourney. Harriman may have figured something out last game. We'll see. It's basically a home game for both as it's not far for either.

From a neutral observer, Grace loses to Meigs if they play again unless: (1) they find an on ball defender who can stop Zy (not likely) or (2) they get out of the man-to-man and play a zone to stop the dribble penetration and make maximum use of their height and size advantage to keep Meadows off the boards.

With regard to your other prediction, what I can say is based on records and who has beat who from each district of the teams remaining (clue: remaining 4-A teams lost all those games to remaining 3-A teams) your prediction would not be correct, but heh, that is why they play the games. We will see.

The pick I'm most confident with( out of 4A) is Coalfield over Tellico. Tellico beat Coalfield by 2 in the first game of the year. Coalfield was missing their best player, and two other key rotation guys. They had the lead with 20 seconds left when a kid took a contested jumper to give Tellico a chance to win it. I think Coalfield is the better team and pulls out the win at home.

This is program is established and has a club team (Stars) feeding it with wrestlers.    Siegel High School is looking for an assistant coach. Again, this program is growing with talent every year. This past year we had 2 state placers.    If interested you can send an email to starstnwrestlingclub@gmail.com or freemand@rcschools.net

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
