Did the TSSAA do the right thing in disqualify Riverdale and Smyrna from

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that you are an astute enough basketball fan to grasp the difference between the circumstances you described and the absolute mockery that Riverdale and Smyrna made of that game.  Nothing you described remotely comes close to intentionally dribbling the ball into the backcourt, trying to score in the wrong basket, shooting free throws over the backboard, or lobbing them six feet short of the goal.

Surely you're smarter than that...right?

So it is not losing games on purpose that is a problem. It just has to be done a bit more discreetly? Anyone who knows the game, and watches very many 3-4 games, has seen it done. And we know it is being done. That will not change as long as teams are put in games that they are better served to lose.

You are arguing just to argue! Watch the film. There is a major difference in making coaching decisions that lose a game and two coaches involving players in a mockery of the game!

Agreed! If they didn't have the current format the weak districts would send teams to the state tournament and you would get a watered down version at the state tournament.

Yes..if a Jackson and Clarkrange for example are among the 8 best they should be able to go. The whole system shouldnt be changed because of this incident.

Not at all. Make the 3-4 game an elimination game, and give the 1's a bye in the region. All you lose is revenue from meaningless 1-4 games. Teams that belong in the state are capable of finishing better than 4th in the district. Even in the good districts.

You have 64 teams in the ncaas plus the play-ins. It"s the same, those last few in and most 4s have little chance.to advance but every now and then they win a game or two. Why completely shut out the underdogs?

Every team in the state is in the tournaments at the beginning. No one is being shut out.

The 3-4 game is between teams that have already lost once. How many extra chances should they get?

It happened in Waverly this year also, the football team threw a playoff game. Some of the basketball players came out for the football team this past fall and were difference makers. The basketball coach told the 4 or 5 basketball players that were on the football team that it was time to play basketball and they threw the game and were at basketball practice on Monday.
