Yelton Leaves Lee. East TN Gilrs that help give him National Tiltes to make decisions. Matt recruited heavily in East TN and the girls from east TN will miss having that elite program trying to lure them to stay close to home. Lots of girls from ND had a hand in those National Championships and will miss having him around too......ND's Taylor Greene, the goalie Yelton had pursued from ND who had committed to Lee as a 10th grader and just recently signed w/ Lee has to be dissappointed, along with some other girls......Will he lure them to Birlmingham now?????

Yelton has done an outstanding job at the helm of the Chattanooga FC since taking over a couple of years ago...and influential in the merger of chattanooga and East Ridge clubs....he will be missed...wonder who gets that gig

Best of luck at Samford with your 2 brothers

I've been close to the Samford program for a few years now and have a high degree of respect for the entire family.  Great folks on all fronts and very supportive of each other.

Todd recruits from all over and some happen to be from Tennessee.  Anyone that has the talent to play there should consider it.  The non conference schedule is always tough and the team is successful.  5-1 vs SEC schools last two years with the only loss to South Carolina.  Played UVA in Birmingham last year - yes, Morgan Brian is the real deal.  Next fall they will host Ole Miss, Memphis, Boise State, Wake Forest and Duke.  They will travel to Baylor and Auburn.  All before the conference season starts.

With the exception of a few teams, the conference is very competitive.  The regular season conference title came down to the last game between Samford and Mercer.  In the tournament, any one of the final four teams (samford, mercer, furman, etsu) could have won.

Great school/atmosphere, quality people and all you want in a schedule.  Todd delivered on all fronts.  I suspect his other brother being there will only add to the experience for the players.

    • Congratulations to Huntingdon and Station Camp. Lots of good softball in Tennessee. Alcoa been media favorite last two seasons.
    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
