WHS won by 20 but agree with all comments made regarding GP. Deering has done good things with less talent

Coach Price has some talent and utilizes them to their full potential.

I thought Spann was a really good coach...goes to show that it's not what you know but...

Haven't see other 8A teams...I would say for the second year in a row WHS' toughest competition will come in the first-second round of the regions.  Could be wrong.

Pickett Co. just beat #8 in AA Livingston Academy by 29 at LA.

Jackson Co and Clarkrange are always good.

Clay County is solid also. Watertown needs to play better or 1st round of

the region will be a sweep.

Agree... i believe Jackson has won twice vs Wtown

Wasn't there just saw the scores...8-10 points each time if I'm not mistaken

8A will have only one chance to win a game in the region and that is the team that will play the #4 seed Clay Co. team.  Other than that none of them have a chance to come within 25 points unless the 7A coaches call off the dogs early.  Should be the same on the boys side however i'm not sure 8A can win a game in the region tournament as Clay Co. Jackson Co. Pickett Co and Clarkrange boys teams are all very good this year.  Look on the bright side, at best you'll only have to make one trip to Livingston this year  :popcorneater:

Maybe no trips. Aren't first round games still at higher seed? Only semi finals and finals at LA

Let me break it down for you chief, if you are able to win a first round game (#1 seed is the only one that has a shot at this) you will only have to make one trip to Livingston because no girls team out of 8A can win a semi final against 7A.

    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
