Goodpasture Softball Head Coach steps down

One of Tennessee best High school programs just came available with coaching legend stepping aside! This will be a very sought after position as a young team with loads of talent will need a new head coach.

What is going on at Goodpasture? First the girls BB coach leaves and now softball? Who will replace each one?

They hired a man from JP 2 for head football coach so he must have been Catholic, correct?

can't get the players they once got in and personally i think the location of the school is now a problem - thoughts?

Wrong. JP2 hired a Church of Christ member. Not the first time either. Their AD at one time was also.

The problem is that softball in general is dying. Travel ball has killed it.  You are either at the top of the food chain or do not play at all. Not enough high caliber players to go around for everyone. You need those role players too.

 

The overall level of play has dropped off tremendously. Yes you still have a few teams here and there, but overall the talent is nowhere near what it was 15 years ago.

Hearing some rumblings that the Asst. Coach is the front runner for the position. Several good candidates have inquired though.

Is he they guy whose daughters played at Goodpasture several years ago and now play at Lipscomb?

That would be Bill Cartwright and no he has not helped coach in several years.

Sadly, that seems to be the case, but 15 years ago wasn't even that good.  More like 5-10 w/ the 2005 to 2010/11 classes.  Those were LOADED and RICH w/ talent!
