So apparently the refs told someone of the people on the sidelines that were cheering that they would be ejected from the stadium if they didn't "watch it"...... What's their problem?

If the refs were calling a fair game this game is atleast 42-0. These refs basically called a penalty on us every offensive play in the first half. And have helped Lenoir City any way they can.

At least it isn't turnovers! Or the GOVS just giving it away!

Dude the refs called 7 or 8 personal foul penalties on our defense! And LC was dirty and they weren't getting called for anything. And the refs were throwing a flag every play we were on offense in the 1st half. But we won! If we didn't have Shad's leadership the refs would have went home with a W

Shad seemed to agree on the radio. Saying they had tons of "crazy penalties" that they definitely needed to address, so maybe it was more on the players vs the refs.....

That's coach speak. Most coaches aren't going to criticize the refs. It's a wonder that things didn't really spiral out of control. A big brawl nearly broke out right before halftime. And the refs were largely to blame for that imo.

Very true, it's much different seeing it in person vs listening to it so I'm just glad the GOVS and Shad got their first win of the season!

A couple of times Cupp and the boys " wondered" where the penalty was but for the most part they agreed with the zebras. He even got a little upset with the players for the extra curricular activities.

In the first half we were playing with composure despite alot of extra-curricular activity from LC but the refs weren't calling anything on them. And the refs were completely taking our offense out of the game because they were flagging us on every play. I'm convinced that any team would have lost their composure in that game. Yeah... They got in our head a little bit and we made some dumb decisions and mental errors. But some of those calls in the 2nd half were just baffling! And the no-calls on a few plays where LC players were taking down our players by the facemasks and horse collaring us was equally baffling. That game was not called fairly. But we won! That's all that matters. I'll take it even though that officiating left a bad taste in my mouth.

    • Yes region 1 is extremely weak but a # 5 seed out of region 2 has no business in the playoffs either.
    • They've had some great talent over the years. They usually don't whip no one but can be tough to stop on offence.
    • Could be a lot of reason from what I’ve seen so far.  The lights wouldn’t turn on at Smyrna last night and had to move games to Blackman could be a reason or maybe he is talking about how on some of the games on NFHS network the camera placement was absolutely asinine. ( had a camera set up right in front of a net and couldn’t see crap)
    • If Gordonsville can manage getting through these next 2 games without using him it will be ideal. ER was the last team to not have to pitch their #1 till the state championship i believe. Worked out well for them but they also had one of the best 1A staffs of all time that year. Only allowed one run the whole tournament and it was in the 7th inning.
    • And he’s not even their #1. Lights out performance. Gordonsville is in the drivers seat with their #1 arm available throughout the tournament.
