Rockwood will win it big. Averaging 43 points per game. Opponents are averaging only 7. Rockwood is pretty solid on both sides of the ball. IMO we are much better than the team we brought to Kingston last season. Multiple offensive weapons. There is also a revenge factor based on the game we gave away last season. Kingstons' student body hung a stuffed tiger from the goal post last season after the come from behind win. Most of our kids found that to be pretty tasteless and have not forgotten. Pictures are already circulating as a motivator. PREDICTION.......ROCKWOOD 41 KINGSTON 20

Let me break this down for you. YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND. Rockwood may win but it's not going down like that. I know RW always has a solid team but you guys have yet to play a team that's any good this year so don't go on the averages of how bad you're out scoring people.

i saw the Harriman/Kingston game in week 1. Neither team really played all that well. I contribute that to some poor officiating and basic "1st game" mistakes. I understand that a good team will improve with each week. Cant speak for Kingston but ive seen all three Rockwood games. We have done just that. We are scoring with 4 or 5 different players each week. Cant just key on that one RB like people have done in the past. As crazy as you think i am, i will stick with my prediction. Sweetwater had 2 linemen over 300lbs (both D1 prospects) Our kids roughed those two up all night. Going into the game, everybody expected a cat fight. Score was 13-0 after our 3rd play on offense. We never looked back. 41-0 at halftime and played our younger kids the entire 2nd half. Anything goes in a rivalry game. Just for the record though.....Rockwood beat Rockwood last year. Should be a huge draw at the gate so come early if you want a seat. Best of luck to you guys and i pray that neither team has any injuries

Rudy...Thats what our kids were told all week in preperation. One is 6ft 7in 325lbs and the other is 6ft 5in

305lbs. Big kids but really werent very mobile. Based on what i saw, size isnt always an advantage. Team speed is more valuable. No disrespect to Sweetwater. Those two looked good against Meigs(on film). They didnt do so well against us. I dont know. People have bad games.

Sweetwater has 2 D1 prospects? I would hate to think that I had 2 D1 linemen and was 1-2.

The lineman is 6'6 and well over 300 BUT he has "potential" but is not great in any form. The one thing you cant coach is size thats what these D1 schools want alot of size and scholarships are renewed on a yrly basis. That makes it a hit and miss but you never know till you get them on the field.Just like the big kid from Harriman that went to KY never made a splash and then was dismissed from the team. The SW kid is big but nowhere near a GREAT lineman, these "camps" they go to ups there noticeability but there not going full pads one on one.GB played him last yr and he didnt do anything special just a big old boy.

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
