NOTRE DAME vs Undefeated EAST RIDGE (Rd 2)

The scoreboard hijinks is just plain funny.

 

The leprechauns jumped on 'em early, getting up by four TD's, and that was the difference in the game. Never doubted that ND was the better team, but thought ER could keep it closer and possibly find a way to win.

 

Probably wouldn't have changed the outcome, but I still say it was stupid of ER to move the game. The Pioneers have been playing in a zone this season, with lots of emotion, which has helped their performance. I just think the game would have unfolded a little differently on a soggy field with poor lighting and East Ridge fans lining the fence around the field. Probably wouldn't have been as many mackerel snappers in the audience, and the ones that were there wouldn't have had as nice of a party. Like I said, probably wouldn't have changed who won the game, but you just don't give up that kind of emotional and psychological home field advantage in a game like this.

 

It will still be interesting to find out if the ER staff and administrators were dumb enough to willing accept the change in venue or if they were forced into it.

I don't know what the problem is but once again we agree.

how in the world did the Selected Representitive from East Ridge who was operating the scoreboard at Finley think he was getting one over on the Irish Faithful, the ND Footbal Team and Coach Fant and his staff by placing the score (14-9) of the 1st meeting this year when ER won, on the scoreboard immediately after the game was over......Miss Booger couldn't get a picture of the scoreboard 📷

ERHS should have displayed a little more class than to change the scoreboard like that. I'm going to break character for a minute and say - let's hear it for your 12&1 Pioneers! If the PA announcer said it once ("your 12-0 Pioneers!"), he said it a 100 times.

 

I realize they were the home team, but the announcer and sound manager did take advantage of the controls by playing music when we were in the process of running a play or rallying their fan base during the same. I do admire Coach Malone and his staff for what they and the team accomplished this year. They were the better team the first time we met at Eberley Field. In fact, our fan base and school demonstrated the utmost respect for them after the game.....we (coaches, fans, and administration) would not have accepted altering the scoreboard or denying the team and parents their victory. They will need to learn to win with respect and lose with dignity to ever be considered a great team. Enough of this - time to focus on those Tornadoes! Hey Alcoa fans - where's a good place to eat up there around your neck of the woods? We're looking forward to visiting you guys...heard you have fantastic facilities!

didn't say Booger dis-agreed with East Ridges staff puttin the 14-9 score of their win against us earlier in the year......actually we thought it to be hilarious....but hey; if thats another one of the ER staff great teachin moment for there youth; have at it........thats why we at ND..... it was bout as classic as the Karaoke concert their Alumni was havin under the pavillion pre-game......

 

gotta admit; its could be classified as a backfire.....you just had an incredible 12-0 season ended by a romp 55-27 (thats with 2 Irish TD's called back) and your gonna paste your regular season winning score 14-9 on the board immediately after........kinda like Tennessee postin their 2006 16-13 winnin score on the board at Neyland after Alabama's 9th win in a row last year

As a longtime Ridge runner and friend of lots of educated rednecks, I mean ER grads, congrats on a great season. I remember and was there the first nd beat them in 1982 (I think) in a long time. Great season for the pioneers.
