Who Are the Best Teams in East TN?

The guy who listed the top 5 teams in his 3a category is not even close. William Blount is easy top 3. They have wins over farragut and McMinn Central. Only loses are against teams from out of the state (Chicago and Washington DC) plus Blackmon. If the best players played more of the game we would be easy top 1 or 2. The system is good at times but we are loaded with talented juniors And sophomores who can score with anyone.

After their loss to Bearden sounds like his top 5 might not be off. Morristown West is the big favorite in 3a. Outside of that you have some 2a and 1A schools that have proven they can beat the other top 3a teams listed in East Tn.

The loss to bearden is a set back but my hope is the rotation gets trimmed and the press is used less. The 2nd half of the game was much more even in fact William Blount outscored them. They pressed in first half and that wasn't the way to attack them. They handle the ball very well. Lets see this Friday against Maryville and next time against Bearden. But William Blount is loaded and their best years are next 2 for sure.

No way Mo West is a big favorite over a healthy Bearden in 3A. They would be a slim favorite at best. Game could go either way. Outside of Elizabethton there isn't a team in 1A or 2A in East Tenn that would beat a healthy Bearden. William Blount is a very good team as others will soon find out but Bearden was still without it's starting point guard and led by double digits the whole game. I can't speak for any of the districts in 1, 2 , or 3 but district 4 in 3A is heck night in and night out. There are 4 or 5 teams in that district that could compete for district championships in East Tenn in 1A, 2A, or 3A.

District 3 A, is a nightmare night in and out, top 5 could knock each other off any night

You already have a lost a game to Greeneville who has been blown out by SG and Elizabethton (their only 2 losses of the year). Morristown West is head and shoulders better than greeneville. I have seen all the teams in mentioned played and stick true to my statement.

Bearden lost to Greeneville without their All State starting center who signed with ETSU and also without there starting point guard. They started 2 freshmen in their place. Experience does count and Bearden was up 49-30 in the 3rd qtr. One player is back and they other should be back in a week. I've seen all these teams play as well. If Bearden were to play Greeneville while healthy the game would be a double digit win. I stick true to my statement because i'm sure you haven't seen Bearden healthy.

You keep using IF quite a bit. Injuries are part of the game and we will never know since Greeneville and Bearden won't play each other again. Both teams were tired when they played after playing tough games all tournament long and GHS coming back was impressive. I just see morristown west to be a favorite in any game they play in east tn. I also believe SG and Elizabethton both are better and Greeneville is pretty even with Bearden when they play to their capability like they did in the 2nd half of that game.

Well as I said. William Blount is easy top 5. And good job prep xtra last night for all picking and talking about Maryville beating us. We just win 39-22. William Blount 2nd in district. We didn't press as much and condensed the roster down a little. We are loaded and it showed.

Bring them to Morristown and we will see how good they really are!

    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
