Maryville gets upset in District Semi's by Heritage 62-61. The Rebels have lost 3 in a row now...what's going on with Eldriges' team??

The three straight losses have been by 2, by 6 in triple OT, and by 1. They had been winning close games all year- now they have started losing some.

I still think they have a decent chance to get to sub state if they can win district consolation game and avoid Oak Ridge's side of region bracket.

Understand that..just how the ball bounces at times...

I didn't go to the game but listened to the radio talk show the next morning and heard all that did say it took four seconds to play the last second of the game. Sounded like they were blaming the clock operator for not starting the clock soon as the ball was in play. Like I said I didn't go but I heard Mike Edwards say in all of his life of watching basketball he had never seen anything like it.

I was at the game...Maryville looked and played like they had a long off week...timing and rhythm just a little off....big credit to them the battled back and played hard.... Same Referee made 2 calls at end of game that a lot of officials would have left the whistle in their pocket on...both were legit calls just not always called.... first one tie game Maryville holds for last shot misses and Maryville fouls on the rebound as time ran out....put 1 second back on the clock and both free throw were made.....a length of the court inbound pass a designed catch and shoot that takes maybe 2-3 seconds from when the ball was touched bodies collide foul called as buzzer sounds.... one call for Maryville one call against and two made foul shots and one air ball and on made shot....that is how the game ended with officials escorted off court by Knox Counties finest.

    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
    • If Heritage moves down and Alcoa moves up the best thing for Heritage is to do what William Blount did when theystopped playing Maryville or meet certain defeat. Honestly can't see Alcoa not moving up the way the county is growing. Might be in the Mountaineers best interest to stay in 5A because none of those teams on their schedule are anything close to Alcoa.
    • I say over as well. Barney, regarding the move to 4A, will the cross-town blowhards move up as well??
