complete standings after week 5:

Summit 10-2

Centennial 10-5

Franklin 7-5

Independence 6-6

Ravenwood 5-7

Brentwood 7-8

Dickson County 0-12

this weeks upcoming series:

Summit vs. Centennial

Independence vs. Ravenwood

Franklin vs. Dickson County

with only two more weeks left in the regular season in district play, things are starting to take shape.

Summit vs Centennial could decide 1st place and the automatic region birth this week. If Summit wins the series, they would need to win one game in the following week to finish 1st. If they sweep they are 1. If Centennial sweeps, they are 1. If Centennial wins 2 out of 3, they would need Summit to lose 2 more games to finish 1.

i am going to go out on a limb and say Dickson finishes win less in the district to claim the 7 seed.

Brentwood will be 10-8 to finish after the sweep Dickson in two weeks, which should move them up. Franklin, Indy, and Ravenwood all have to play each other over the next two weeks, so that should benefit Brentwood in the standings. Ravenwood also has to play Summit in the last series, so my prediction is they fall to the 6 seed due to having the toughest remaining schedule.

so my early final predictions:

1. Summit

2. Centennial

3. Franklin

4. Brentwood

5. Independence

6. Ravenwood

7. Dickson County.

Summit swept Ravenwood. Final game was 7-4. As you note it doesn't matter for the standings. But pretty amazing season so far for the Spartans.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
