I really think the district altogether is a toss up. I think anybody can beat anybody on a given night. My rankings are based on teams that get it done year end and out. You also have to look at the coaching. Portland and Lipscomb get there players to a top notch level everyear. Even if you think its a rebuilding year for them they are always in the hunt. Other teams do have the talent but are they up for the challenge night in and night out? This should be a good year for the whole district. Will MLK get beyond there youth? Will Springfield play as a team every night? Can the Fogg continue last years success? Will East make there presence known, after 2 years in the district? Will Brewer and Ferguson be stopped? Good luck to all the teams in 8AA!

I also see the district up for all teams. But I dont think Springfield will be able to stay focused and it will cost them.MLK and Hume Fogg will have a good year as planned.Macon could upset a few powerhouses at home.Greenbrier will be very dangerous come tourney time, and will turn some heads. And the rest should just fall into place.

It will be a very shocking year.

I think MLK will mature rapidly as the season goes on.They might be very shaky and nervous in the first few weeks, but I belive they have the right stuff and good coaching to get to were they need to be by winter break. It will all come down to,can Johnny Lee carry them and become a leader later in the season.

In no way am I trying to bring down East's talent.Anybody could wind up in the last 5 spots(if counting Station Camp). You might be right, hey they might even get going in the district tourney. They will be 2 or 3 games away from being up in the top 5.The district will be close from top to bottom.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
