If everyone stays healthy it's gonna come down to Scotts hill and Waverly

I think that the Lewis Co. posters will disagree. We went there and won last year but it was a tough game, and LC seems to be improved. Scotts Hill has played much better for the last six quarters than the previous six, but it's early in the season...a bad quarter or two could be a disaster against Waverly, Lewis Co., or Riverside for that matter. Loretto has some size, but hasn't played well yet... they could still have a say before the matter of region standings is settled if someone overlooks them.

I know the game of the week is LC- SH but surprised no one is talking about the HC- Waverly game. Is it because everyone thinks Waverly will run away with it? I do think Waverly will win but they better be focused and ready to play. HC has some play makers on offense. Their defense has been their problem.

I think that Waverly wins pretty easily...Hickman Co. isn't a cupcake by any means, but if Waverly is as good as advertised the margin should be 3 scores...maybe more.

Also wondering about the Loretto/Riverside game...Riverside should take care of business according to previous results, but everyone keeps talking about the Mustang's size and athleticism. Can they put a good game together and play up to what everyone thinks their potential is?

Looks like the standings for the region are all but decided except 1'st and 2'nd...could change but not likely. If Scotts Hill puts the ball on the ground like they did against Lewis Co., it won't be close. The Lions' defensive stats were great, but they didn't have the usual fire...the offense had good yardage, but turned the ball over way too much. Waverly is rolling right now, but maybe a long bus ride, a couple of weeks to "fix" the Lion miscues, a week off before the game to heal, and the fact that they'll be looking for a little payback, can work in our favor.

If everything plays out and Lewis Co./Riverside finish 3 and 4, it's shaping up for Adamsville and McKenzie to host them in the playoffs...rest of their region is still up in the air, with Trinity and Jackson Christian having the inside track.

All subjective, (and probably way too early) but I'd like to hear how everyone thinks all this will play out.

I think you could be right. Looks like the same four teams in region 5 and the same four teams in region 6 will make the playoffs. I'd feel safe to say that Waverly, Scotts Hill, Adamsville and McKenzie get first round home games. Barring any upsets like last year that's setting up some huge 2nd round matchups but that's still 6 weeks away. Hope all teams can stay healthy for the playoffs.

    • Wouldn't the easiest move be to move McCall up to HS Principal and have Gulley take over as MS Principal?
    • Bounder, you are correct. And it is so easy today. As a civilian today, I can check my 6th grade grandson’s grades in real time. 46 years ago as a young head coach, I knew who were my weak students and would do a weekly check. A decade and 1/2 later as an administrator, I would ask guidance for attendance, and grade reports as I did my own discipline reports. 5 years later I could run all those reports in a few minutes. today Text one the Secretaries and they can create a red flag report only printing the names with D’s and F’s or attendance and discipline issues. You are not even dealing with a whole team. The only problem with modern technology is someone who might not want to know.
    • No I didn't,  I just know jellico lost a few and should in playoffs tho....but they have alot coming in the next few yrs
    • The buck stops with the head coach, he should have know if any of his players  were not making the required grades. Either he has someone checking weekly before games and reporting to him or he should do it himself.
    • Freedom Prep has discontinued their football program. These are the teams that were on their schedule in case you are looking for a game:
