Liberty vs Dyersburg

I don't think a Madison co public will win a state title any time soon...the school board and central office have made that very evident...they refuse to support local athletics bc they have such poor academic standards...a 21 on the ACT is a goal for high schoolers??? That's a joke...the curriculum they force is ridiculous...students don't have to take tests if they have a high attendance record, you're kidding me...they don't want to look like hypocrites by having state championship caliber teams...we can't even get buses to away games here...the answer is to get down to 1 or 2 public high schools...stop spreading the resources so thin

I have to agree with you DHS. I don't think any team win a state title anytime soon, possibly in any sport. I don't think the school board simply cares about athletes for their schools. I pour absolutely no money into them, everything that a school wants has to be by funding. North Side was suppose to get a new football stadium due to safety reasons, that money went to iPad's to the middle schoolers at the academy thing at Northeast Middle.

I am totally for putting turf fields on all 3 public schools and here's why:

1. Family. I am assuming coaches, parents, and a few players are painting the field on Wednesday and Thursday nights, but that's time away from family. Also, when there is a middle school game on Thursday night, North Side coaches would have to wait until the game is over just to paint the field. Which would be about 8:00/8:30-11-midnight.

2. In the long run, it probably saves money. I hope a D-Burg supporter helps me out on this. I know  turf fields are expensive, but with it lasts 8-10 years I believe it saves you a little bit of money, not having to buy all that paint. Just curious on how much the turf field cost Dyersburg

3. Too many non-Friday night games. Since North Side is land-locked, we have to let our soccer players play on the football field. And with girls soccer, freshman games, middle school games, JV games, and boys soccer in the spring. It has to kill the football field.

I do think the academic standard is too low. I truly believe that if you don't put to your standards sky high, you're just setting yourself up for mediocrity. But the ACT prep teachers don't want to teach and the students always want to take classes with their favorite teachers. That's what gets me! Students just don't realized that a 21 ACT score gets them into every university except UT-Knox. So I don't think they get it, also don't want to learn either. Also, if a coach lets a player that has a D, that coach should be suspended (I don't think that happens, but it won't surprise me). Everything is Academic, academic, and it's not working out.

I think this game is going to be very physical and very close.

If you take a look at the same opponent scores they are close and some are by same margin.

Liberty

48 - 19 over Dyersburg 29 points

47 - 0 over Westview 47 points

35 - 0 over South Gibson 35 points

49 - 7  over McNairy 42 points

45 - 7 over Southside 42 points

28 -25 over Milan 3 points

Dyersburg

19 - 48 lost to Liberty

49 -3 over Westview 46 points 1 point different

35 - 7 over South Gibson 28 points

42 - 0 over McNairy 42 points same

28 - 2 over Southside 26 points

27 - 24 over Milan 3 points same

But I got to take Liberty in a very close one

Liberty 27 Dyersburg 21

I went to see Liberty play Milan last Friday night . I haven't seen that many athletes on one team since we -Covington- played Fulton in the championship game in 2102. They have 8-10 guys who look like they are fully grown ,we haven't had that many athletes on one team ever I don't think.

Trojans take this one , coaching staff is top notch.. Bart Stowe will have these boys ready for war. go Trojans ! -Mandingo

You must not watch film...take that coaching staff junk back to the cleaners...no doubt the Trojans will be ready to play...but unless they figure out how to stop 500 yards of offense, they aren't winning...rain or no rain

. Only thing there is a 100 % chance of is rain. I'm not one to be unrealistic and will say Liberty is the better team on paper but you can't be unrealistic and say rain will not be in Dyersburgs favor. Actually could be a equalizer IMO .

Possibly, but here's the thing...what if by some great act, it doesn't rain...do you think your boys will hang their heads and not fight back??? I hope not...

Cause whether it pours or not, you know exactly what Liberty is gona do

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
