Ridiculous rule! Don't beat teams by 80 and you will find teams that will play you outside of Knox County. I am sure people will want to blast me for that but sometimes the truth hurts.

When your starters dont play in 2nd half and your JV team plays 2nd halves and scores .. what do you do ... same as Knox Cath , Greenville etc ... there have been some very good teams from Fukton , KC and Greeneville ... teams where JV teams better than those teams varsity .. but go ahead and blast

Catholic's schedule is done.  Wasn't as hard as everyone thought it would be to find games.  Funny thing is a lot of schools contacted them to play. Catholic didn't expect the TSSAA to place them in the region they were put in.  Not sure how true it was, but apparently there were some grumblings from  schools about Catholic being in their region. But in reality Catholic's location placed them in that region. I know people refuse to believe or even listen but not going to D2 was based on the other athletic teams as well, not just football.  I know everyone believes the sun sets on football, but it would have affected other teams as far as travel. The myth that Catholic has all this money is ridiculous and all this "I know someone" talk or "I heard" is just that talk.  Like another poster said, if they were losing or hovering around .500 no one would care. Forgive my ranting TadVols I don't want to become Alcoa and hijack a thread lol.  You guys should be very good next year.  I think the Irish will struggle losing so many players on both sides of the ball a lot of production will be lost to graduation.

Q .. whats their schedule ?? Fulton be good ??? I dont know who is gonna play OL or DL .. they only have ablout 4 on the roster returning .. and 2 can play .. neither bigger than 6'1 230 .. dont go Q Lou on me . when KC gonna have 6-5 300, 6' 5 280 , 6'2 250 etc ....

I will just say this.... I can remember a few years ago that West was inside the 5 about to score again late in the game and took a knee. On consecutive downs. To each his own however.

I still think Catholic will be down. I'm hearing rumblings about guys maybe transferring. Not sure how true it is or if it's just talk. But we shall see. Fulton has some really talented skill players and I'm sure Coach Black will be able to put together a good line.

They must've paid North Greene a hefty sum to get that scheduled. Why would they play a 1A school anyway?!?! Goodness.

I don't think it's hefty but let's be real there are schools out there offering cash to schools and wanting two home games. I know of a few publics that have done that but the smaller schools said no. As far as playing 1A when posters make comments like good luck finding games you get them where you can instead of playing 8 or 9 games. But honestly Catholic is losing way too much to dominate games like everyone thinks. And based on the letter the parents received this week Catholic will probably loose athletes from their feeder schools because of financial aid being taken away.

North Greene is a 2a team playing up to 3a because the conference is easier. Trust me if everyone transfered then you would still mercy rule them

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
