BCBearsDen
WarriorFan- Our school celebrated 100 years this year. We are a passionate bunch and maybe some get a little over the top with support on this board but we just love our school and the tradition. We have a special community and even though we rival sometimes amongst ourselves (3 high schools) most of us are proud of each other's accomplishments. Excuse us for some reflecting and good luck to your team today.
baconbreath
Gosh. What year was Bradley Central started, and did it always go by the name Bradley Central? Bradley Central as we know it today opened its doors in the fall of 1916 as Central High School which was a 2-story 1-12 school located on 4th Street in what is now downtown Cleveland. The senior high school was moved from Central Grammar and High School to Charleston Pike which is now named Ocoee Street and became the school we know today at Bradley Central High School. . In 1920 the name was changed to Bradley 'County' High School and then again in 1948 to Bradley Central High School. The boys started playing basketball in 1921-22 while the girls followed in the 1922-23 school year. Football, however, was started in 1916 when the Central boys (not yet called the Bears) beat Tyner 43-6 on November 10, 1916. I found this information in the book that the Ownbey guy wrote covering the complete history of Bradley Central basketball.
