reaction
Well this is the last year of the big bad privates in A/AA. Who are the favorites this season?
BigG
Page and CAK will be strong.
fernando9
CAK the best again in East TN. Several returning players, with good new players and also maybe the strongest overall player around. BigG, will CPA be as strong again this year? reaction
Boyd Buchanan should be strong again as well. Only lost 2 starters from last year. I doubt we go undefeated again, but we have added some good competition to get us ready for tournament time. We are playing in the Smokey Mountain Cup, as well as added Dalton GA to the schedule. BigG, will CPA be as strong again this year? We have a really strong midfield and back line. We had to replace most of our big time goal scorers, and though young, the new ones have a TON of speed. reaction
Dalton is STRONG!Yup they always are. It will be great experience for our guys because they won't play a better team than them all year.
MoonDogRex
Yup they always are. It will be great experience for our guys because they won't play a better team than them all year. Except for the #3 team in the nation that returns 10 starters from last year... https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/high-school-soccer/national-team-rankings/men/spring-2016/5015
abouttogetmessi
Anything know about Greenville boys this year? They seemed to be youthful last year in the state tourney. Lots of speed up front. White House teams are not too shabby. I know White House looked strong against Father Ryan last night and Heritage has yet to have a scrimmage, but hearing good things coming from their camp. Going on a limb: Public wins it this year. Heck we cracked the top 25 last year after we beat McCallie. They will be a difficult game as always.
fernando9
As I remember, Greeneville loses a very strong scorer and a couple of other important players, but had some very good young guys last year that should be even better this season. They play some big teams early so should be good test. I agree rankings are always suspect. But McCallie was a bounce away from making state title game last year, and almost to a man bringing everyone back this year, including probably best returning scorer in state plus 2-3 very high level midfielders. On paper only, I'd argue that they really could be the strongest returning team of any division in the state. But who knows how that plays out with 17 and 18 year olds listening to the hype. When is the Boyd v McCallie game? Would be a great one to watch.
