Okay since no one wants to talk about this game,  let's talk about what we have seen since the Mayfield game.

1. We have held onto the ball better at times and other times not so much.  The second half of the Trenton game was great.  First quarter and a half we kinda stayed with status quo.

2. Penalties kill. We get a team in a position where we can force a punt and then basically give them 4 new downs for free with a stupid penalty.  I'm not talking about when one of our guys is trying to make a play and gets called for pass interference or something like that.  I would rather have a penalty than to give up a TD. Just saying. I'm talking about the silly face mask or holding call on offense.

I believe we are cleaning up some of those things but we have to get better.

3. Heart.  Now I know we have guys that have heart and they play with a never give up attitude.  But until we were down 14 points to Peabody Friday night  I hadn't seen the team as a whole show the kind of heart that is needed to get back to Cookeville.  I'm glad to say that I believe we have turned the corner on that now.  The way our boys celebrated after that game opened up the avenue to more and more success.

4. Fans.  When I see our boys out there on the field calling for their fans to stand up and cheer for them and more than half the crowd just sits there. ........ Uuuhhhg. I guess since the Mayfield drubbing we lost some enthusiasm as fans.  But we have to do better.  I believe we will be back in the title game. I see everything in place.  We will only get better.  I'm very excited about what the rest of this season will bring.

I always give an honest opinoin even if it's critical. What do y'all think.

I did happen to find some footage of the Hawks 2016 season. They run variations of the spread. Good size but lack good fundamentals up front. Of course this is last year's video, but I expect little different. By the scores they've put up this season, they lack a kicker. My guess is it's a money game for them. We'll probably get our young guys some time. Just hope for no senseless injuries.

We finally got y'all kicked out of 1A so maybe we have a chance. Dresdung lost too many to get back to the championship and Wayne Co finally ran out of Rices so this is definitely Huntingdons year to win it. Dont know anything about the teams in the east except what I read on here. 2A seems a little more competitive with y'all TCA Trenton Adamsville Waverly just to name a few

Zebra.  If y'all would just move back up to 2A we could get us some games to play.  We had some good ones.  By the way,  the Stanks are my pick for the 1A title this year.  Y'all will run the table and bring that gold ball back to the west.  Good luck.

If anyone with the exception of Huntingdon and Coalfield is in the 1A state title game then someone has been severely outcoached. Both teams had more returning than any other 1A contenders.

    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
