Perry Co. @ Collinwood

Vikings head to Collinwood to take on the Trojans for their first of three straight away games. Vikings average 320 yards a game and give up 260. The main problem with the Vikings have been turnovers and they didn't have many against Hickman Co. Mainly the Bulldogs just were that good on the ground. Collinwood averages  298 yards a game and give up 313 yards. Trojans had week 1 off but have played Mt. Pleasant, Shoals Christian (AL), and Loretto. Trojans have had trouble with turnovers as well but this game is at Pat Brewer Stadium so you know there will be a crowd of green fans. Thoughts?

Of course two years ago I believe Collinwood went (2-8) and the Vikings lost on a two point conversion. I think if Perry County does not win this game they won't be in the top 4 that will go to the playoffs. Bruceton is beatable now that they have had so many injuries and Don't know much about Middleton other than they are giving up 49 points a game. But if the Vikings win they are still up for the #4 spot in the Region with McEwen unless other teams beat them.

I'm not trying to bash but as bad as Middleton is, I think PC will have a tough time stopping the type offense they run. That game will come down to turnovers. I just don't see PC making the top four in the region. Cwood will win some games just with the size and speed of their lines, they block well and are very hard to block, it's the skilled positions that they have been struggling with

The only thing that has hurt the Vikings are no calls by he refs and turnovers/ penalties for off sides or false starts. But mainly costly turnovers. I believe we have some playmakers that can put up the points and that can keep up with teams if we block and not turn the ball over. It'll be hard but i'm like RINGS when it comes to the Vikings. I wouldn't trade anyone on the Vikings team because they have put in the work and they are tired of losing and being called losers by other teams (not saying yall were just people in general). This team has a lot of heart and they try hard. I just pray that their hard work and dedication pays off some this season.

Appreciate your comment about believing in your players. When we believe in our players, the players believe. And sometimes, they win games their not suppose to and they makes for great memories even if you don't win championships. I'm glad all these young men put in the hard work and play the game of football with all they got. No one, and I mean NO ONE, deserves to be called losers ever! Good luck to your Vikings Friday night.

This team's attitude is always to get better each and everyday.

And that's what it should be. The best team that doesn't get better each time they go out, is the team that will eventually get beat.     Keep playing hard regardless and always respect your opponent!

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
