Hearing Seymour may have there guy. It's a coach already in the SCS system.

They hired Scott Galyon.  Seymour alum and a heck of a former player who played at UT and in the NFL, but if the news articles are correct he only has 1 year of coaching experience from 13 years ago (working under the current Seymour AD when he was head coach there).

Everyone in town seemed to want him because of what he did as a player 15-20 years ago.  He seems like a good guy.  But hiring someone with so little coaching experience, especially when that little bit of experience was from so long ago, just seems like it might not work out.

For the AD to come out and say they passed over 60 applicants, including 3 guys who'd won state championships, to hire Galyon seems like it could really come back to bite them.

Great hire for Seymour.  A class act, and obviously he knows football.

Seymour for years got away with playing in a smaller region when in reality they should have been 4A instead of 3A.They hid students at a class at SCHS that SHS didn't have and told some to stay home during the count.Often they snuck by the first few rounds with the help of refs.Finally teams like Fulton & others would beat them yearly in round 1.Famous Coach there begged TSSAA not to put them in the Fulton region as they would have not been 8-2,9-1,10-0 like they were used to.Coach Cooper was great but many kids quit on him.Kids said he yelled at them and they got their feelings hurt and quit.He also wasn't a part of the good ole boys there so he never was welcomed.It's funny how now that King's is successful they are "recruiting" in all sports.They have a hard time getting schools to play them yet when they were 17 deep(if that) getting beat by 40 or more their phone was ringing off the hook.Scott is a fantastic guy and Coach.I hope he can bring the program back.They lost some tight games this year and could very well have been 5-5 and were very young.
