Rhea appeared to have gotten a break on their enrollment if the numbers are accurate. 9/26/16 Enrollment on the tssaa website has them at 1442, good for 5A, after some thought their numbers would be high enough for 6A.

October 1, 2016 number on the Tennessee Department of Education website, on the newly released state report card, 1554. Would have had them in 6A football.

I doubt there was any kind of effort to short the number for classification purposes but it does seem strange the gap was that far apart.

Sequatchie, for example, is 695/693. McMinn County, 1556/1552.

Wow, that is a very large gap. I would expect a slightly different number, but not a difference of >100.

Another site has enrollment at 1518.  Not sure where you are seeing 1554.

Scroll down and put in Rhea or any other system. I'd trust this to be most accurate of any sources, directly to the tn. Dept. Of Education.

Sounds like we need another Monkey Trial 93 years later in the town of Dayton to see who Monkeyed with the enrollment figures.

Maybe they thought Darwin's Theory was to take the actual enrollment but have a head count on Senior Layout Day to qualify for 5A.

Monkey business, unlikely, but it does seem like different methods were used to get the different totals. Not long before it was final, I'd read Rhea was expected to have well over 1500. 

It may see unimportant in the long run but I'd say whatever team went to 6A instead would have been interested.

Sounds like someone's jealous because our folks were able to figure out how to be one of the largest schools in their classification instead of the smallest.
