kwc
Memphis high school football top Week 11 games Khari Thompson, Memphis Commercial AppealPublished 10:00 a.m. CT Oct. 24, 2018 | Updated 12:32 p.m. CT Oct. 24, 2018 (Photo: Ariel Cobbert, The Commerical Appeal ) GAME OF THE WEEK MUS (8-0, 2-0 DII-AAA) at Christian Brothers (8-1, 2-0) When: Friday, 7 p.m. MUS comes into the game undefeated, while Christian Brothers has suffered just one loss, by one point, early in the season to Bob Jones (Ala.). The Owls and Purple Wave have been steamrolling opponents, outscoring them 317-55 and 291-90, respectively. There will be plenty of star power on the field in Christian Brothers' William Norton (committed to Georgia) and MUS's Maurice Hampton (committed to LSU), who are ranked as the state's No.1 and No. 3 prospects, according to 247Sports. Also in the top 50 are Christian Brothers' Christian James (committed to Vanderbilt) and MUS' Dorian Hopkins (uncommitted). Devil RB Eric Foster breaks Warrior CB Rasul Muhammad tackle during the first half of the game Friday October 19, 2018 in Germantown Tennessee. Ariel Cobbert, The Commerical Appeal Whitehaven (7-2, 2-0 8-6A) at Germantown (9-0, 2-0) When: Friday, 7 p.m. The 8-6A title comes down to Friday night's game. Whitehaven's losses came against a pair of undefeated teams in Lausanne and North Little Rock (Ark.). Will the Tigers' third chance at taking down a top team work out in their favor? Whitehaven has won six of the last seven meetings, with the exception being last year's 29-21 Germantown victory. Germantown is the only team to have beaten Houston and Henry County this season. The Red Devils will be without senior safety Jalon Grier, who tore his ACL last week. Keep an eye on the wide receivers. Whitehaven's Devin Boddie, and Germantown's Cameron Baker are both DI-caliber players. St. Benedict (7-2, 0-2 DII-AAA) at Briarcrest (6-3, 0-2) When: Friday, 7 p.m. St. Benedict and Briarcrest looked dominant until region play began. Now the Eagles and Saints will play each other for their first region win. St. Benedict running back Elijah Mills has been a regular on the Commercial Appeal's weekly top performer list. Briarcrest has Richmond commitment Jackson Walker at quarterback and four-star OL Omari Thomas protecting him. Ridgeway (5-4, 5-1 8-5A) at Southwind (6-3, 5-1) When: Friday, 7 p.m. Ridgeway has the second-best offense in the region with 307 points scored. Southwind has the second-best defense with 150 points allowed. These two teams will face each other in a game that will decide the No. 2 seed in 8-5A. Southwind DT Kristian Williams is a consensus top-20 prospect in the state. Houston (8-1) at St. George's (4-5) When: Friday, 7 p.m. Houston gave up 49 of its 117 points allowed in an early loss to Germantown. Other than that, the Mustang defense has held opponents to 21 points or less. Houston also leads its region in offense with 340 points scored. QB Ethan Burns had a monster game last week throwing for three touchdowns, rushing for a touchdown and catching a touchdown. St. George's snapped a three-game losing streak last week with a 24-14 win over FACS. Raleigh-Egypt (6-3, 3-1 8-3A) at Trezevant (5-4, 3-1) When: Friday, 7 p.m. Trezevant is coming off of a 15-14 win over Melrose, which Raleigh-Egypt shut out 27-0. Raleigh-Egypt's three-game win streak was snapped by Mitchell 14-6 loss last week. Hillcrest (5-4, 5-1) at Westwood (4-5, 3-3) When: Friday, 7 p.m. Westwood is fighting to stay in the top four in the region, while Hillcrest is aiming to maintain it's top-two seeding. Hillcrest has won three in a row since starting the season 2-4. Westwood has won two in a row after starting 2-5. Which team will keep the momentum rolling in its favor? FACS (3-6, 1-4 DII-AA) at Lausanne (8-0, 5-0) When: Friday, 7 p.m. This is the last chance to see Eric Gray play in the regular season home. The Michigan commitment has been sensational all year. Last week's 41-14 win over USJ was No. 35 in a row for Lausanne. FACS' Cole Putnam is the reigning Commercial Appeal athlete of the week. Carson Evans' nine-solo tackle, two-assist, one-TD catch performance landed him as one of this week's candidates. Bartlett (5-4, 0-3 7-6A) at Cordova (6-3, 2-1) When: Friday, 7 p.m. Cordova's three losses were to very tough opponents in Whitehaven, Houston, and Nashville's Pearl-Cohn. The Wolves have had some impressive wins, including shutouts over Southwind, Collierville and Sheffield as well as a 48-3 thrashing of Arlington. Bartlett hit a rough patch in the middle of the season with three straight losses but seems to have bounced back with two straight victories. Colllierville (4-5, 1-2 7-6A) at Arlington (5-4, 1-2) When: Friday, 7 p.m. Arlington has key victories over Raleigh-Egypt, Bartlett and St. George's. Collierville also beat St. George's and shut out Wooddale 42-0. Arlington has scored 104 more points than Collierville has, but it has also given up more points by a fairly wide margin. Go through the BGIMs that were done earlier this season and you will see where I've left off Whitehaven games and CBHS games and MUS games and etc. Not just Cordova. Ok, I see... You just copy and paste what Commercial Appeal has on their site.

There are games that the CA have listed that I don't have. Vice-versa, there are games that I have that the CA doesn't have listed. I generally post their games of the week when they come out though, because they have a comentary with their games. But, I don't select games based on what the CA selects. The BGIM wouldn't come out until Thursday if I waited on them! Edited October 26, 2018 by kwc
