MCCInsider
No, I believe you are thinking about D1 AA, I am referring to D2 AA which is home to teams like BA, Ensworth, MBA, McCallie and Baylor.
QSouth89
Why are there 2 classes in DII? Why not put all the teams together in DII into one class and just have 8 regions. In basketball you could still have one class with 8 regions. Have a region tournament where the top four teams qualify for a sectional. The sectional would have 4 quads with 8 teams each (first round games would be played at the higher seeds gym; semifinal at one location). 8 teams would make the sub-state and the final 4 make state. Your region break down would be 1 in Knoxville, 2 in Chattanooga, 3 in Nashville (since they have the most private schools) and 2 in Memphis. Just a thought. It would be great to have a single D2 class, but it would not work out well. There s a huge gap in the talent level of the two. It’s not fair for a school with 700 or 800 boys to play a school with only 150 that’s coed. Also, McCallie and Chatt. Christian were both Quarterfinalists for their Classes last year. McCallie led them by 50 at the end of the 3rd quarter. It wouldn’t be fair if they played. Do you think it’d be fair if 2A combined with 1A? I see your point, but you can have either a more appropriate cutoff or base your two classes on amount of financial aid given, I mean D2 class AA hoops has 16 teams? Oh well

Oh well I ageee, D2 AA should have more teams. It’s currently at 12 teams, next year I believe it will be at 14. It’s just a matter of who wants to come up and play them. 865BB
You can't have Concord Christian or a First Baptist Academy playing in the same district as McCallie or Baylor. How is a school with 70-80 boys going to compete with a school with 1,000 boys? Even though D II AA is small, those or some incredible teams... really good basketball.
