Jefferson County vs Anderson County

Anderson County should win this game although it is going to be a different style of football game compared to this past friday. Jefferson county is going to be physically a big team. I feel right now Powell, SD, and Jeff Co are the three best teams on AC regular season schedule. Powell and SD are both better than Jeff Co and based off the results of those two games I expect AC to come out 3 Touchdowns better than Jeff Co.

Jeff Co has struggled stopping the passing game of Science Hill and Knox West, and I dont think they can stop the passing attack of AC.

I think you guys are spot on these scores. The biggest threat I see watching Jeff Cty is there QB. He Is a playmaker. He can run the ball really good but he also has good eyes for open receivers while running. This to me is very dangerous for any team including the Mavericks. When the run is stopped he goes to work using his speed and feet and has a real good roll out run pass option which can make a big play or he just keeps it for a big play. The Mav Defense will need to be ready. He drops way back and that gives him time to decide. Typically rushers over commit and then he does his damage. He makes great passes to wide open defenders on the run. He a legit QB. I like the way he plays. However I do think he will burn us a couple times too many then the Mavs wake up. Going Mavs 42-14.

I’ve been surprised by this AC team this year. I guess I bought too much into losing 20+ seniors. They’ve needed multiple positions to step up and apparently they have. Playing 3 solid Qtrs against a good Powell squad, then essentially whooping SD up and down the field. This is a solid group that will once again mostly likely have Greeneville standing in its path if all stay healthy.

I have been a loyal supporter of AC athletics since the school opened in the Fall of ‘82! I have been quite surprised with the success of this year’s football team. I expected they would do fine in their Region but I did not see them beating South-Doyle or nearly beating Powell. And I did not see them beating Howard 42-0, especially after what Howard did to Tyner!...... I think Elizabethton will give Greeneville and/or AC all they can handle. Of course I will always being pulling for the Mavs!!

Powell’s QB had a lot of success scrambling against AC!!

That is so true. I want to think that since they had so many weapons and speed that could have contributed to Powell QB success. I feel we should be knowledgeable enough in this game to eliminate JC QB threat as I do not see there running game as a challenge with our Frontline D. But who knows... And that is why we play the game lol.

I think ACTV is carrying the game. I might get to see this one.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
