Forrest, like the 2017 team, started strong against Portland, And like the 2017 team, couldn't seal the deal.  Forrest - Fayetteville 2017 came to mind. Forrest up 14-0, loses 27-14.

As i said on the Portland thread. Forrest had leads on 4 teams in 2017 where it lost. Fayetteville, BGA, Columbia Academy and Eagleville. CA was a state semifinalist that year. Forrest was up 6-0 in the 4th and had a pick 6 called back on a bogus roughing the passer penalty. They wilted after that and lost 14-6.

You gotta finish. Not sure this team can. Players OR staff.

Huge game for the program this Friday. We had our 14 game regular season ending streak ended last week.

2017 squad finished 4-7 and had a 4th region seed. If we lose to Eagleville expect a similar result. Win and the kids get their swagger back.

Forrest has won 5 of the last 8 vs Eagles. Eagles' 3 wins during that span are by a total of 9 points.

2013- Eagleville 10-3, Forrest goes 8-4, loses in Rd 2 at Adamsville after beating Riverside at home Rd 1
Other losses were to Cascade, Page

2014- Forrest 21-7, Forrest goes 7-4, loses in Rd 1 at home to Riverside
Other losses were to Lauderdale Co (AL), Page, Huntland

2015- Forrest 49-13, Forrest goes 10-2, loses in Rd 2 at home to Marion after beating Bledsoe at home Rd 1
Other loss was Page

2016- Forrest 39-14, Forrest goes 11-2, loses in R3 at home to Marion after beating Tyner (Rd 1) and Meigs (Rd 2)
Other loss was Jackson Co

2017- Eagleville 21-20, Forrest goes 4-7, loses in Rd 1 at Waverly
Other losses were BGA, Fayetteville, Columbia Academy, Watertown, Lewis

2018- Eagleville 14-13, Forrest goes 5-6, loses in Rd 1 at Waverly
Other losses were BGA, Columbia Academy, Watertown, Lewis

2019- Forrest 28-7, reg season, Forrest 32-6 Rd 2 of playoffs. Forrest goes 12-1, losing to Riverside in Rd 3. Also beat Hickman Co (Rd 1)

It's not exact, and someone else can do the Eagleville records, but I know in 2013 they played Adamsville Rd 3 and lost at home when their best back got injured early. The Forrest - Eagleville winner seems to go on and have a good season. It's very tough to recover for the team losing this game. Forrest had a bazillion chances to win all 3 games it lost in this span. Only 2013 did I feel Eagleville was better. They were very strong defensively that year.

When Forrest wins, they usually win big, at least by a couple of scores. Eagleville tends to gut out the closer games.

So either Forrest explodes and pounces on a "low morale" Eagles team in a 21-7 ish game, or its a grinder that Eagleville finds a way to win, and Forrest finds a way to lose late in a 13-12 type game.

TY do you remember the back for Eagleville in 2013?

Yes. Then they had the WR brothers and then the QB. They usually have 1 or 2 skill guys that are standouts and 1 or 2 good lineman. The rest of the team doesn't look like much but they play well together and the coaches have them prepared. If it's close going into the 4th Q they usually pull it out even if they are outmatched.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
