Chattanooga area - top teams for 2021-2022?

Here is my Chattanooga area top 10 girls teams after a few weeks into the season.

1. Bradley - still gelling after losing 3 starters & 6 of top 10 players from last season; but their 2nd team would probably beat everyone from #4 down. Lots of talent.

2. Cleveland - plays at Bradley this Friday. Can beat Bradley if they shoot well & Bradley doesn’t.

3. McMinn Central - will get another chance at Bradley later in year. May be the team in the area with the chance to go deepest in the State Tourney.

4. McMinn County - lost to McMinn Central last week. I’m curious to see how their games go with Cleveland and Walker Valley.

5. Baylor - probably best PG in area & always well coached & well disciplined.

6. Whitwell - plays Meigs Fri Dec 3rd, so will see if they belong this high.

7. Tellico Plains - I don’t know much about them, but they play McMinn Central & Meigs in early December, so we will find out

8. Walker Valley - Young team with some good players (i think 6 of top 8 players are sophomores)

9. Silverdale - young team that lost a lot to graduation. Lost to Walker Valley last week with a couple key players out.

10. Boyd Buchanan - returns top 2 players from pretty good team last year.

I wanted to include Meigs Co on here, but saw that they lost to Polk Co. They both play in District with McMinn Central & Tellico Plains, so should shake out more later in the season.

All - Feel free to chime in & let me know what I missed. This is not perfect, but just a basis for discussion… best wishes to all teams.

A pretty good list but I don’t believe that Whitwell is a top 10 team and I would move Tellico to the 4 spot and we will see what Cleveland really has in a few weeks. And Polk is not in Meigs district anymore.

Interesting. It looks like teams 4-12 (or maybe 15) are all about the same, depending on the night. Too bad McMinn Central & Cleveland don’t play each other.

Central  will play  Bradley tougher next go around. Wish Cleveland was on the schedule as well.

Interesting.

Bradley is the top dog

McMinn Central and Cleveland is a toss up.

Meigs played really bad against Whitwell and Polk and lost but played really good against Tellico and McMinn Co and won. There young and inconsistent they should get better as the season goes. They are in the BOP in a couple weeks.

McMinn County has talent but they don’t play good team ball. It looks like me ball.

Tellico has a good team but I question the coaching some they had advantages against Meigs but didn’t capitalize on them.

Baylor don’t know much about them.

Silverdale don’t know much about them.

Whitwell has one really good player.

Polk is a average team with a pretty good PG but they will probably win their district because it’s really down this year.

Walker Valley lost to Ooltewah so I guess you would have to put them in front of WV.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
