Dr Phillips quit playing at the end. It baffled me why they kept fouling #3 instead of anyone else. I feel they gave that game away. They let up in the 1st qtr and it came back to bite them. They played super undisciplined as well. Not taking anything away from Greeneville but the refs had it out for Dr Phillips.

With the talent Dr. Phillips had on the floor they should of never been in a position to let the officials impact the game. They were lazy and undisciplined the majority of the game.

Agree to disagree. I do think Dr Phillips played very undisciplined down the stretch.and give Greeneville credit they made some big plays But the refs took that game over and made it about themselves and making sure Greeneville stayed in that ball game.

I’ll have to go back and watch the replay again when it’s not in the heat of the moment. Greeneville got a few friendly whistles I thought, but I never really saw anytime outside of the first 2 minutes where they didn’t seem like they were in control. Dr. Phillips should of been up 10 after 1 and more than that at the half but just seemed lackadaisical to me, like they just expected Greeneville to eventually just roll over and go away.

Gillespie played like a man among boys, but the officiating against Dr Phillips was absolutely pathetic especially with the veteran crew they had on the floor.

I agree. Normally I have great things to say about the Northeast Tennessee officials compared to Southwest Virginia. But three teams today got absolutely screwed. I did confirm with Tanner Cook of the Kingsport Times that East Hamilton decided they'd had enough after getting jobbed by Tennessee High.

I don't think the officials was ever going to allow Dr Phillips to play. There isn't a year I haven't went and watched basketball over there that you get a game like tonight rather it be Science Hill,Dobbyns Bennett  or tonight's case Greeneville,Against one of the top teams from out of state that they feel like they need to put on a show instead and make the game about them instead of call the game correctly. Between 2 of the officials in that game tonight they probably have around 35 years under their belt and you blow a charge call against Dr Phillips when then kid from Greeneville was falling backwards before contact was even made. Did I think Greeneville played well enough to win? Yes. But the point is Dr Phillips never got a fair shake in that game.

The amount of charges and little touch fouls that have been called this year is atrocious. I don't think I've ever seen this many charge calls before.

I hate them calling it on it guys after they have come down and their momentum carry’s them a little bit forward. Feel like I’ve seen it so much this week. Might be the right call by the book, but it’s annoying to see. That and the charges happening completely under the basket.

If you're nerd enough (I'm sure someone has already done it though,) you could get together a complilation of completely random bang-bang block/charge calls, play them back at 1/4 speed, and you'd see that 4 out of 5 times it's a charge. If it's not obvious that the defense did something wrong, more often than not, they didn't.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
