On Tuesday a Super 25 ranking was released and the top 5 teams were 1) Brentwood Academy 2) Beech 3) Christian Brothers, 4) Ensworth and 5) Knoxville Catholic. On a side note Knoxville Catholic point guard BJ Edwards, Bartlett’s Amarr Knox, Freedom Prep’s Bakari Johnson, Christian Brothers Chandler Jackson, Cane Ridge’s Brandon Miller and Pickett County’s Zac Amonett were all nominated for the McDonald’s All-American team. Congratulations to these young men for being recognized.

4A Beech and Columbia and Cane Ridge dont let their record fool you.. Columbia is a fun team to watch in Mid Tennessee those kids can go.

Christian Brothers and Brentwood Academy are probably the best two teams in the state no matter what.

They don't play in the TSSAA but the Memphis Homeschool Education Association has a really good squad.

I can only really speak for Memphis and West TN (very weak this year with exception of a few teams.)

4A: Bartlett, Whitehaven, Overton

3A: Jackson Southside, Fayette Ware

2A: Douglas, Power Center (2A seems very weak in Memphis)

1A: Middleton (could win it all), MASE, MAHS

DIIA: FACS

DIIAA: CBHS (could win it all) MUS (not ready now but has some very good young players)

It looked as if Whitehaven has a lot of size. What about North Side seem to have a good record does it add up tho?

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
