TheBlueprint
I’ll take Dekalb by 2-3 scores if they play a clean game with no turnovers

Most schools are only bus zoned, if kids can get thier own ride, within the county, it's fine. And just for common sense purposes would ya say even if it was open in let's just say lafayette and rbs which is more beneficiary macon getting players from a little 1a school or upperman getting players from a big city 6a school like cookeville? Anywhere in the county can attend Livingston Acd. Even Clay Co kids out in Allons can choose to attend LA. Should they be considered a private school? Red Boiling kids can attend Macon High, Lafayette, county is open zoned if you find your own ride. Best kid the had in past 10 years from over at Hermitage Springs. Should we consider them Private? Kids from Clarkrange can attend York and vise versa cause the whole county is open zoned. Are they private schools? Lots of kids float between Crossville high and Stone momorial....I guess they are private schools too. RBS is one of the smallest public schools in the state, Clay, Clarkrange ect are all smaller than Monterey. Everyone knows what is Going on at Upperman they should just play 6A football and 4A in everything else. Upperman used to be bad in everything before they built that new High School and open zoning now they are almost unbeatable in everything playing smaller county schools. Putnam County population is 78,500+ Macon, DeKalb, and Overton’s combined population is 66,000. Cumberland is the only county near Putnam at 60,000. Those 2 schools split the county fairly evenly. Upperman won two baseball championships at the old school. 97 boys basketball finished 3rd in the state, 97 football team went to semis. 99 boys basketball was ranked number 1 in the state throughout the season with a state tourney appearance. Girls basketball took home the silver that year I believe and one of the girls teams were nationally ranked a few years after that at the old school

Upperman is Putnam County High School Now. Edited September 2, 2022 by Khall555

Jimmy Miller was good but that would have been the only Livingston team that would have a chance to beat us in basketball. You played Macon though and lost to them several times in football. Look I have a lot of friends from Baxter and it’s a nice small town, but let’s not pretend that Upperman is not recruiting in all sports and loading up on athletes. They are no different than Maryville and Alcoa or any private schools. It’s an advantage over equal sized schools in much lower population counties. Yes our football wasn’t great in the 90’s just about all other sports though we were tough to beat. I think the only ones recruiting are the players. They grow up playing together in travel ball, family, etc. Baxter is pretty much an extension of Cookeville at this point. If we were to set these schools to private schools most of the schools in TN would have to be as well. It is an advantage to live next to a populated area but that’s not Upperman’s fault either. The rules aren’t changing, nothing illegal is being done, if so no one has brought forth any substantial evidence,. We would have to have 30 different classes in sports to make it fair for everyone. Urban classes, rural classes, population classes, strict zones, average zone, wide open zones, public, private and so on and so on.

When you play small town teams that are used to winning (especially in basketball) and don’t have that advantage and beat them all the time expect them to complain about your clear advantage. Macon won a Girls Basketball championship in 2021 and won 3 games the next year. Small schools in small counties can’t keep reloading all the time. Livingston Academy was awful in football last year. I get it. Coming from Baxter when it truly was a small town. What’s the score there?
