Clay County @ Westmoreland

This will be a barnburner if anything like the last two years. With both teams having their respective de facto region title games at home later in the year, this should prove to be a great test for both teams. Westmoreland was Clay's toughest non-region opponent last year, despite being down.  I predict the first team to score 20 wins.

Maynard being a new coach over there will make this even more interesting. The Eagles should respect Clay co for sure after the last 2 homecoming wins. By the way, this is westmorelands homecoming!

The 2020 game was the best high school game I have ever watched. The 2021 game could've went differently if Westmoreland didn't get greedy in the last two minutes and start throwing the ball.

This game will go along way in preparation for East Robertson regional title game!

Yep,Eagles will be most likely  be 3-0 in Region and coming off fall break when ER comes to town 10/14.  Good news is this team isnt looking ahead like i am. This Friday night will be another close one.

I hope you right but celina has made believers out of the players on this team the last few times we have played. They also have a lot of tradition up there that these kids have probably heard about from their parents that played years ago. I hope westmoreland comes out with business on their minds

I don't believe it will be a three score margin by either team. I don't believe Westmoreland will play fast enough to score 28. However, it is not impossible for Westmoreland to hold Clay County to 7 if everything goes their way. The Eagles done a great job last year of controlling the clock in Celina and dominated time of possession. The last three games have been 21-12 Eagles, 27-22 Dawgs (should have been 19-14 Dawgs if not for back to back kickoff returns in the last minute of the game resulting in touchdowns), and 21-14 Dawgs. Seems that 3 scores is the magic number to win the game.

    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
    • Thats one of the problems of having an 8-team region. A team could make it in any other region, but the numbers work against them in this one.
